The definative fluids thread

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by porknbeaner, Dec 20, 2010.

  1. Ok so here's the deal I see this question alot how much of whatever fluid you choose does my car hold???

So I filled up a 1st gen SBC with a '65 Mustang V-8 radiator and an under dash heater today with a 50/50 mix of antifreeze and water. It was bone dry and held 3 gallons (exactly).

So now we know how much one of those holds.

Is there something that you know? Perhaps how much oil a stock 426 with a filter holds or perhaps a 9" Ford rear.

Post away it won't cost you a dime and it might help someone on the way to the autoparts out.

My WWII vintage TD-9 bulldozer holds 11 gallons of used antifreeze/water mix.

I'm usually able to hold about two cans of Pepsi before I have to take a leak.

  4. How can you drink that stuff.

Its hard to believe that no one knows how much of anything their vehicles hold.

Stock (non-optioned) late '60s Ford FE (390/428) oil and filter 5 qts. Pan only 4 qts.

9" rear 5 pts of gear lube.

  5. OK I was going through some old threads for grins. The HAMB drags just got over so I know some fluids got changed and someone knows how much of whatever their heap holds. So lets give this a bounce.

SBC tuck pan and filter 5.5 quarts or 6 quarts with the oversized truck filter.

    What ya got?
