It must have been a night when Clyde and I were off duty,...Or Alcohol was effecting your memory,...or someone from one of the other MHRA clubs were on duty,... Trust me, you don't want to try this.

First of all, MHRA & Cobo security will be on you like a Bum on a Bologna sandwich,... (Mostly MHRA security) we aggressively patrol all night long. Any serious situations,.. the Detroit Police Department has a presence on sight and are at our beckoned call. And you will find yourself in the "Pokie",.. ( I think it's called that for a reason.) for trespassing.

I'm kind of curious how you got past the locked doors. If the Ridler Judge was on a golf cart,.... It was actually one of us. Fact is, you never made it to the
Cavalcade of Kustoms display, Before you were asked to leave. we wouldn't be so polite. And you would only be "asked" once.

Those crazy Emperors....their all silly bitches who love prison sex so I assume they were hoping to get caught. Hahaha!!!!

If I go I'll behave. Don't want to be locked up in the Arm Pit of America...just kidding.

Yeah, I would think pulling a stunt like that wouldnt be a wise one..especially these days where more and more of these cars are growing legs and disapearing.

always a fear of leaving a car in one of these places where you dont have control over its care, when your not there.. glad to know there are a lot of eyes on them.

Truer words were never spoken,... Because now the federal D.H.S. keeps pretty close tabs on venues like this as well.

  7. Actually one of the doors at the Cobo Hall entrance at Washington and Congress was unlocked, so we walked right in. Then we went through the first big roll up door that was open and into the show. There was a female security sitting in a chair at the roll up door who didn't even look up as we walked by. Reasoning, that there should be no way in hell we made it this far, we decided to go check out our friends car in the Cavalcade of Kustoms (see the attached photo of the car, taken during show hours)

The Ridler judge who stopped us wasn't on a golf cart, he walked up to us. If my memory is correct, was the same heavier set gentlemen with a mustache who's seen on the Rides episode when they filmed the Ridler competition back in 2004. He was actually really nice about the situation, he simply told us the show was closed and to come back tomorrow when it opened. Then we simply turned around and walked out through the same roll up door and by the same security guard we had just passed a minute ago.

If it makes you feel any better, the next night as we walked across the intersection of Griswold & State at 2am, some not so nice people in Detroit, yelled out "Whitey gonna get f&$ked up!" and proceeded to circle around the block to make sure it was going to happen. Good thing our friend's condo was right around corner at the Lofts of Merchant Row on Woodard, otherwise I'd be telling how "whitey got f&$ked up." Lesson learned.

As for seeing the show Denise is right, be there on Wednesday and Thursday for set up and buy a three day pass, it's the only way to go.

  9. No Detroit this year, but some of us will be attending the GNRS in January. Rumor has it one of our club members is going to debut a new roadster at the show. As for the ORGE, indoor car shows and Chris are like oil and water!:D

If you have any questions about car related places to see in Detroit PM Jade Idol or The Duke. Since they are two of the three club members who survived Detroit and can tell you where and where not to go during the day.

Remember not even Houdini could survive Detroit!:D

Three of us will be heading up for the first time from SC. I'll be in the Cavalcade with the old Caddy. Stop by and say hey. Looking forward to it, but kinda dreading the trip to Detroit in February.

I figured Chris wouldn't be there. I guess I'm going to have to come up for E v. W numero TU-no.

Thanks man for the heads up. One of our club members is from Detroit and the others are from the South where they don't go to the shitter with out carrying a .45 on them. they normally go every year and this might be my first if I can.

  12. Once again the Motor City Auto Art Mavens will be hosting the charity panel jam and we encourage one and all to stop by,say hello, and buy plenty of neat artwork.Looking forward to seeing a bunch of HAMBers and raising a bunch of money for the Leader Dogs.

We are once again due to logistics limiting the number of artists to 125(I think we have over 80 signed up already).Wish it could be more but we just don't have the space.

I had wanted to display the Safari but I guess that is not to be.Probably for the best as it is still leaking a bit of oil and anti-freeze if if sets too long.Maybe next year.

To everyone hear please have a Merry Christmas and hope to see you in Detroit!

I'll be there! In the Artist's Alley, in the basement. Rumor has it we'll have 20 artists down there!
Here's a drawing of the "Little Honker"... I'm donating the original drawing to the Motor City Autoart Mavens (pinstripers) auction. I know some of the other Artist's Alley guys are also participating. I hope the Little Honker is there again this year...

  17. Oh yeah the Lil Honker will be there for sure actually a feature car , and the artwork donations will be greatly appreciated.

For those that are not aware the Tuner cars have been eleminated so look forward to more hotrods and fun for all.

Also I am having a mini bike display, that should be way cool.

Artist alley will be bigger and better than ever as well.

Tell your friends it will be a great show as always.

I wish the Iron Lords had some car close to finished state. I'm not sure sinticket's '62 Galaxie is going to be finished and I know my shit is going to take longer. Would be cool to have a couple of our cars set up so we could do a display and shit.

  24. Yes, use the autoram Extreme entry and just put mini bike.

The cost is only $25 though and you get one exibitor pass.

I've brought two different cars to the show the last three years. This year I'm going to be one of those losers who bring a bike to a car show. Atom Bomb Custom won't be there this year but I own their latest bike, The Green Agenda so I'll have it on display. Its sitting in my dining room right now so I can detail it before the show.
