Now that's awesome! Talk about "period correct"!! Just doesn't get any better than '40s Lakes machines. Great work. And thanks for the pics Django.
never really thought of that....work on the roadster when its too cold to drive or rainy....drive the hell out if it when its beautiful out....does that suck if you live in california?...lol cant wait for the rest of the pics!
This is by far the best car i've seen on the H.A.M.B. My word's can't describe just how beautiful this is. I'm speechless and breathless.

altho that is an outstanding car (im not a roadster nut) , i tend to like this one better . no offense cause the car is awesome , just like this better ......... steve
Other than the small block chevy engine in that one, I love what I can see of that car on your web page. It's not channeled way down, doesn't have a rear axle that's 10" too high or sit too low. Looks good. If only I didn't have two car payments already!! For about the price I paid for that POS '07 dodge truck that I have, I could be driving that car!! Who knows, maybe when my divorce is all said and done the ex will take the truck and I can shop for real for a car like that.
thought you might like to see this image of a 32 which I would assume was built in the 40's. It was purchased from that online auction site and no extra information was provided. Obviously the fuel tank has been relocated, the windscreen appears to be of a semi wrap-around possibly perspex and the side exhaust seems to be fixed to the rear radius rod which is attached to the side of the frame rail. Sorry if the scan is out of focus, the original is not that great and my computer skills regarding attaching images non existant. Any info that anyone can provide would be greatly appreciated.
the elco tank has a lot of meaning in my area. it's from don noyes. aa/ms nat. record holder. blown chry. in a 52 mg. from the days when guys built all their own stuff.
Very cool provenance, but it does kinda harsh the period-correct-forties vibe. I think you need two roadsters: one built 1940-style, and one built 1965-style. Hang the Elco tank on the latter. Until then, run the tank in the trunk of the '40s car as a hidden nod to your friend. -Dave
Here's my car and engine. Fairly close to 40's. Still looks pretty decent for having 12,000 miles on it too.
Yep...the only place to really find one is to look on ebay...they start around 5 grand. A buddy of mine got lucky and found one for $2500...we all agreed he stole it for that price!!
There's been a few advertised on the HAMB and Fordbarn recently http://www.fordbarn.com/forum/showthread.php?t=2643 http://66.154.44.164/forum/showthread.php?t=461160 http://66.154.44.164/forum/showthread.php?t=478658
WOW!!! looks I'm back to hunting an early 30s willys or pontiac grille, awesome piece though I assume the vents close?
