    "Faytons" are so cool. Love the old beater in your original post. My favorite is still Richard Graves' beater '32 from R&C back in the early '70s.

    Weather finally just got nice out here at 6000 elev this week. Anxious to get some things done this weekend. I'll do some pics. Fuel problems, It makes it around the block and quits. We'll figure it out before the weekends over. A windscreen up front would sure be nice.

    .....some proof of life photos done last weekend

    The first two are with a home made lens rescued from the trash that started life as a Korean war era gun spotting scope, and the second 2 are with a more ordinary (for those of us shooting an 8X10 camera) Goerz Dagor lens.

    I need an oxy acetylene torch so I can bend some headlamp brackets.

    A high school buddy and me are going down to So. Cal. to pick up a killer '29 roadster that he bought, so that will no doubt re-vitalize me. I guess I'm just a slow mover. Thanks for askin' !!

    You said that the orginal touring was sold in the bay area ? at Woodies on the Wharf in June a local Santa Cruz guy was there with a touring that was so cool that I went back to see it a couple of times, it was dropped with a banger and had wires, I think on it with all orginal patina, upholstery and top it was awsome. May be some one from Santa Cruz ( concreteman)will respond to this with the name of the guy who own it just to see the history of it. Could be the car...............:D

    Mini update;

    New windshield today, and a friend stopped by to see if I'd cruise the phaeton into town to use as a prop for some photos he wanted for his web pages.

    Risky because there ain't no lights yet, but we made the 3 mile trip (right up US-6) and did the photos with the big Kodak 8X10. I'll post them when they're developed.

    yes virginia, that is a C crank behind that wheel

    The goofy tires/wheels are temps I threw together to get it from the back yard back into the garage last weekend. I sand blasted and painted a set of '35 wires for it. Primed last weekend and color coated today.

    Yes, they seem bright, but with a bit of road dirt and dust I think they'll start to blend in just fine. A few dirt roads and mud puddles will help. It was a minor milestone as I haven't actually restored anything for about 18 years. It'll be fun to see them on the car. Baby steps.

    Thanks. Didn't get everything on my list done last summer, but did get a few. Decent seats are installed. Window glass. Fresh painted '35 wires. Maybe next summer it will finish getting civilized. Can't really get in it yet and turn the key and go. Now I'm playing catch up with the firewood pile. Winter will be on us quickly.

    Great ride! One of my dream cars with room for the family. I would leave the 'A' grill shell IMHO. Too many 'A's done with 'duece' grills. I don't want too get flamed for this cause the '32 grill is one of the most beautiful ever designed, it's just that the 'A' grill is a nice piece too!

    I am well. Thanks! The reasons to sell tipped over the reasons to keep in the last month or so, however, the necessary price may tip it back into a permanent position in my garage.

    One problem is that I don't fit in the dang thing. The steering wheel rubs my belly. Now I'm 210 pounds on a 185 pound frame, so not grossly mis-proportioned, and in my own defense, I fit in my buddy's '29 roadster like a glove, same as the 3 roadsters I had. If I keep the car, I think some engineering can solve the problem. Probably have to rebuild the seat back and look for a correct steering column to start with.

    Meanwhile, the car is available.

    Don't sell it!! Drive it to B'ville this year. It would look so good out on the salt.
