Whats the best brake clutch ***em to use on stock 30 ford fiewall(ansen style or kugels that mount completely under the dash)i like the look of the firewall being clean but there high,i like the price of the ones ***us sold(is he still selling)but dont really like the masters on the firewall
I'm thinking about swing pedals also, along with cowl steering on my '30 Roadster. Is a '32 Cowl vent a must for filling the master cylinder? That is the one part of the deal that I wonder about. I'm planning on a 1 1/2 - 2 inch rollbar that fits under the cowl that this stuff would mount to.
I like stuff on my firewall. It's a CAR, and SHOULD look mechanical. Those sideways hidden things scare me. So not user friendly to check and fill if necessary.....my fear is it'd run out of fluid eventually without anyone knowing and cause a wreck. Not on my car
I fab bed my own, rear facing M/C s. used the reseviour with plastic, look up under the dash and see level. fill with squeeze bottle with bent plastic pipe fill. Ago
'Zactly! Hang all that stuff out where you can get at it and where it belongs. Just use cool M/C and such so it's interesting visual clutter... Oh by the way, you can fill one of those silly 90 degree deals with a turkey baster - brake fluid in my armpits - great!
this hint may not be for everyone`s taste but i use early corvair master clyinders for both the clutch and brake masters. easy to mount....simple hanging pedal built into the master.......check them out..
Don't use a turkey baster, use a squeeze bottle with a bent fill. Has a tube that goes to bottom of bottle like a siphon spray gun. gentle squeeze and fluid goes to where you need it. Mcmaster-Carr has them. Ago
Check out the roundy round catalogs like Smiley's, they sell pedal ***emblies that are small and light. You might also look at the Welder Series stuff and see if they have a kit that would work. Worst case is buy the master cylinders you need and fab the bracket and pedals.
Here's a pic of the setup ***us was selling. It's top notch and works with the early Chev pickup master.
A friend is using the Ansen setup with the chevy dual master cylinder. The master cylinders are 1 1/8 bores and he needs a max of 3/4 " bore to operate the hydraulic throw out bearing. Anyone have a fix for this application? Tom...
I just set up a pedal ***y for an GM truck master but the cluch cyl was on the right and brake on the left. Had to build a bellcrank type pedal to make it work. Is there a different master then the one I used to be able to use pedals like these?
In 1962, they didn't have all the trick **** like they do today, so about everything was either hand built or used out of a vehicle that you could make do. So back then, I used a stock 1960-61 Ford Econoline hyd. brake & clutch swinging pedal setup, works good, easy to work on & ***y. fits under dash to firewall with minimum ease, with both hyd. cyls. mounted on engine side of firewall. Slave cyl. mounts on fabricated plate close to clutch arm.------Don
Metalman....all you have to do is switch the guts. I think it's the brake side that has a special vavle that the clutch does not. May not be what you wanted to hear after making a bunch of extra stuff. Clark
Yeah, I ***umned the brake side has a residule valve and the clutch doesn't. Still wasn't that hard to fit in a bellcrank and it will keep the firewall looking better not having to cross the lines and having people look at the master and see the side labled clutch going to the brakes and vise-versa. They might think I fu-- up when I did the plumbing!

Anyone have a fix for this application? Tom... Yes. Send the master to Serria Brake and have them sleeve the bore that he will use for the clutch - and if he's using an Ansen style pedal it will be the opposite bore that in the stock pickup - down to whatever size he needs to work with the hyd TO bearing - and move the brake side over to the other bore. The brake setup has the residual valve in it. They did mine and a bunch of others so they know just what you need to do. <!-- / message -->
