Dale are you trying to get the lights to work or the gauge to work?

The light itself grounds to the back of the housing, sometimes you have to turn it to get a good contact,If the bulb is good it should come on,Do the other lights work, they are all conected.

On the gauge there should be just the two posts, one is a grounding one in a series that goes from post to post accross the gauges and the other should be a direct from the sender.

Dale;to add to Ken's post on 65s,not sure about 64s,there is a voltage regulator that gets power from the ignition and holds it to a set voltage that all the gauges use,it is about 2"X1" with a terminal on each end and a mounting lug.Dearborn Classics,NPD and others carry them.If you can't find one let me know,NPD is in Ventura, about 15 minutes from me.If you listen to my Comet on that pass you can hear it struggling, the timing had moved to 42 degrees,YIKES,34 is normal! If you scroll out on the video there are a couple of videos of my friend John's 9 second 351W,4-speed ,64 Falcon.Ken;I say we build a clone of your 64 and dress it up like "THUNDERBALL"!!! ROY.

    Ken, Roy-
I have all cluster lights working, and operational. I'm just attempting make the fuel guage work, and send me a indication of fuel out of the tank. It sounds like I do not have either power, or a proper ground. But, no resistor across these terminals? I"m going to a few hours tomorrow (my christmas present to myself!) and pull out the cluster again, and trace out more wiring, to see whats up. Roy, this small regulator you are referring to. I'm most sure I do not have it, but I'll look for it. You have a link to a picture?

Dale;now that I think of it,the 64s may not use one,as they have mostly idiot lights where the 65s have full factory gauges.I just looked in my latest Dearborn Classics catalog, page 92, and it shows one for 60-66.The description states,"when it goes bad all of your gauges will give erroneous readings EXCEPT fuel gauge".On my 65 it is mounted on the right side of the instrument cluster. My printer-scanner is not working right now so no pictures. It sounds like it does not control the fuel gauge any way.My 65 did not have a resistor across the terminals, one was ground and one went to the gauge. ROY.

It was on my list as well. Santa left a note under the tree for me. Said something 'bout no room in the driveway, and to get rid of couple other "cars".:)

Thanks Roy and Jody. Jody,I heard you guys are getting the snow, You can blame that on Roy. He sent those monsoon rain storms your way.We are in for it soon enough. They are predicting 5 to zero for new years here.
I'm already getting cabin fever, ready to go racing. Going to start some of the diet plan for the 64 this week. Just got all the videos that Fast eddie took at HHRR and YORK/Beaver. Some really good new stuff. I'll start putting on you tube this week.

Ken, if you are interested in any info regarding the Laughlin/Miles afx Comet you may want to contact the following site. http://www.woodmancollisioncenter.com/home2.html. This is Jess's son and he might be able to fill in some details. His father is still around and might be able to fill in some blanks for you.
Laughlin/Miles also sold a b/fx Comet in 65 to the Sumner brothers from the Alton Il area. They raced it locally only and not a lot. In 67 my father-in-law and a partner bought the car and raced it in the St Louis area till around 1970 then sold it to some one in Indiana. A few years ago we saw it on display at the HRR in Bowing Green and was then owned by Randy Hinson from Charlotte NC. Hope some of this info is helpfull!!
We saw your car at BG this year and boy what a NEAT car!!! I also race a 64 Cyclone with a sb and it runs 12.20's Have had 64 Comets since 1974.
Great thread and keep it going..............

Wow Great info. I just wished I had the $$$ to buy that car. My guess it goes for 250k. I might have to sell Fast Eddie into slave labor and steal Roys retirement to get close to that.

You will have to post some pics of your cyclone on here. Going back to Bowling Green next year. Drop on by the trailer.

    Thanks
Not to look like I'm just rambling on the thread. And in the spirit of those guys getting the snow in PA. Heres a pic of a Local racer back there in the day. So heres my Vintage pic of the day. I believe this car was for sale about a year ago or so for 75K in Pa. Dont know who bought it but it looked nice. The ad has since expired.I posted earlier on the thread,I'll have to look and see if it still comes up.

  23. It's snowing a bit here but the worst is to the east. I think the 422 guys in Philly are getting hammered. They are saying 2-4" for us total. There is already a foot east of the Chesapeake Bay. Thanks Roy!!:D

Ken, when are you picking up your 5 car trailer? You need to bring your entire fleet for the east coast tour!!:D

Your not kidding, I have no idea how I;m going to get these cars around, And then Eddie is always trying to bum a ride. Just checking did you get that package I sent you yet.

The question is do you have a 5 car garage when I come out and visit.

    Ken-
Great video of the Comet out for its first time. I love the ending shot, with the speed limit sign!!! So subtle!!

Fellow racer, and friend, Bryan Fargo and I spent the day dropping out the C-4, removing the small belhousing and re-installing the large diameter unit, along with a new, balanced flexplate. All this to try to install a beautiful Continental Convertor that Ernie the Attorney is letting me have a whack at. It proved to win the battle today, as I was not able to get clearance to 'pull' the 'vertor up to mate with the flexplate. Weird stuff again. I'll take a day or so off, catch my breath, and have a stab at it again. That cold concrete, even while laying on a moving blanket sure saps the energy outta an old 44 year old like me!!

44!...oh to be 44 again. Well maybe not. then I'd have to go work out in the cold. At least now I can just sit home in the warm in front of my puter.

I know all about that Cold concrete. Looks like we have are big storm thats going to hit Thursday, 1-2 Feet of snow and then by new years Zero degrees. Thats it, Roys 68 Degrees sounds good to me. Planning my next Comet build, I'll PM you for your number.I'll be looking for some advice.I'm just trying to figure out how FAST. Its amazing how fast you can build a car in your head and then you lay down on that cold concete.Three years later, I hate that concrete.
