Well, me and a couple of friends decided to do a quick build. our goal was to build a car as far as we could in a weekend. The only rule was not to sacrifice quality to get it done. Here is what we got done. We did not get the paint work or upholstry done in that time. It was a running driving car in the alotted time. The following week we took it apart and painted everything, re assembled it and had it off to the upholsterer. Total time, 5 guys 80 hours each. Total investment, $7500 . Total build was a lot of fun. This thing drives great, and hauls but.

Heres some build pics. We started with a set of decent quarter panels, a nice gastank , and doors from a sports coupe. A nice cowl and firewall from a roadster. We also had a set of american stamping rails, a good running 383 small block, a real dago dropped axle, a turbo 350 and a 9 inch rear end from a 1970 ford truck. Pretty much every part to this thing was lying upstairs in my shop. the price includes fair market value on all parts.

Wow, this is perhaps the coolest post ever! I always wished I could get a bunch of my buddies together and do a build. Just think if 4 or 5 guys took a weeks vacation and had all this stuff lying around?!?!?!? Keep the info and pics coming!!!

  9. Beautiful car!
You need your own cable show.
I'd subscribe if it were available and I haven't had cable for about 7 years now.

If you ever see someone out in front of your shop drooling and twitching, don't worry, that's just me trying to take it all in...

Yea, I know. We just thought it might be fun. To tell you the truth, it makes getting out of the car easier.

Heres a few more pics. The under frame shot was before we installed the rear shocks. With them the parallel leafs work awesome. By the way the team of 5 guys consisted of a 19 year old, 20 year old. Both are kids that hang around the shop. A 26 year old that had never worked on a hotrod before. He is an ASE certified mechanic, and a pretty good welder. My friend Shaun that works with me in the shop, and myself. The first 48 hours were almost straight through. guys would go and take a nap when they were tired, but everyone just wanted to be there and turn some wrenches. It truely was a monumental build and I couldnt have asked for a better set of friends to do it with. One for the memory books.

  28. Great job! It's fantastic what you can get accomplished when you have the parts laying around and most important having fun while doing it! I'll bet the experience left no one untouched! That's what it's all about!
