Not to disappoint you or anything but Holley carbs are known to wear out at the counter bore that the throttle shaft runs thru. This causes air/vacuum and fuel leaks. Once they wear, you'll have never ending problems getting your air fuel ration set as the air drawn in at the throttle shaft screws everything up. And when you push hard on the throttle, the result is gas seeping out the throttle shafts. Rebushing the throttle shaft is the only way to fix them but that can be almost as expensive as buying a new Holley. That's not to say that you can't use it as is, it's just that you'll have a wondering air/fuel mixture and mysterious vacuum leak that will cause engine idle and gas mileage to suffer (among other things). Worn throttle shaft/bore is a common problem on many factory installed Holleys as usually the carb will be on the car for life. Not only that, any and all Holleys were robbed once the car hit the scrap yard and the Holley was usually subject to a second life of general wear and tear. jmho moe .
Most of the time, all you have to replace are the nylon bushings that come in master rebuild kits for the factory issued Holley carbs.. If the carb is a 450, It was probably intended for an aftermarket tunnel ram set.. Judging by the pic that was posted, all you'll need is a regular rebuild kit for it!.. No biggie! P.S. First picture shows that it's not set up for a choke plate... So it is the # 2 carb for a tunnel ram intake manifold setup....
Note that this carb is for a dual set up ONLY - Holley footnote; This has a mechanical secondary, but no secondary accelerator pump circuit. It is designed for a mulitiple carburetor application ONLY, it will not function properly on a single carburetor application.
I've noticed quite a few guys on here giving grief to new guys on their 6-8th post, wanting them to introduce themselves. Why? Shouldn't that be on their 1st post? Why not just answer there questions, and go on with it? Some people are just hung up on B.S., instead of just enjoying the site. Just my 2 cents.
that carb will work just fine on your motor but will KILL gas . there`s no power valve and there jetted in the low 70`s front and rear. get a metering block that takes a power valve try a 6.5 and jet it about 55 in the front .
