There was an event at a track in N.H a couple years back where a driver was I believe asked to leave after he put on quite the race with another member. The two had some of the weekly racers impressed with the lap times they were doing in their "vintage" cars.

The joke around here is if you haven't won a race in a race car, join NEAR or STAR, then you can win atleast once a year.

I would be more than happy to help ID the pictures from the early day at Lancaster. I remember them racing the car at Ransomville on Friday nights and Lancaster on Saturday nights. In fact I was trying to locate some history of this era at the track. My father is Jack Bentley and his cars were red and white Ford coupes with flathead motors. I believe the flat head motors we discontinued in 1964. My dad built the cars for Kenny Meahl to drive. Some of the others who drove for him were Bruce Fleishman (11 feature wins in 1962 as the 99x). Leo Lewandowski was another who was successful. I remember in 1963 Kenny won the Pepsi 150 in a 1934 Ford coupe built to race with the Waterloo cars. They were favored to win the Labor Day race at Syracuse in 1963, but destroyed the car with a spectacular high flying flip and barrel roll coming off the fouth turn. I can be reached a wbent39097@aol.com.

The #09 in the crash picture with the #2 in post 7835 was Lou Funk Jrs car. He bought the car from Jimmy Smith. The car was the 1966 Championship car for Jimmy. That year he never won a race. The only time it was done at Danbury. The of the 3 in post 7839 is that same car after I restored it in 1997. I have restored several Danbury cars over the years including Bob Horn's # 85 and a recreation of Jimmy Leary's # 77 coupe.
The picture of the #3 was taken at the Truck museum in Middlebury Ct. The museum has since closed and the car is for sale last I knew.

Here are pictures of the 3 cars I restored. The #85 is currently painted as the # 99 Geoff Bodine Vega. The # 3 is located down on the coast of Ct. and the # 77 was repainted as the V3 and was last owned by Larry Farrell of upstate NY. He sold it and I lost track of it. I would like to know who owns it now if anyone knows.
