Do yourself a big favor, don't put up a post on the HAMB asking this question again. Just buy the wheels and put the tires YOU like on them....period.
Stop worring about trying to please everyone else.

do as you please. too many guys on here telling other guys what to do what to run.Do you really want to go by the rules .I suspect that if you are building cars to show to people who are going to tell you what you can do and cannot then your building for the wrong reason.Imagine if Ed had listened to the show guys way back. This is one lifestyle where variety is the spice of life.Drive it to the show park it in the carpark ,go check out the conformists then DRIVE it .thats what its all about

Ok, noob question. What are "pinners?" I tried Googling it, I got mostly BMX equipment results back... help a poor kid get an education?

The wheels, they looks pretty good. I'm not crazy about the wide-whites on them though. It looks sort of confused between eras.

  5. yeah what Glenn said !!

  6. What kind of wheels are those?

My buddy George has 3 for his '57 and is missing one...

These are pinner white walls or "pinners". Basically a white wall that's 3/8" thick.

The wheels are fine, but if you put '59 Caddy taillights in it, the HAMB police will come and cut off your balls

The thin whites on the Moik wagon look great but those wide whites, not so much. I love those wheels.

The wheels are decent............if you run them with WWW's you will be ridiculed mercilessly and deservedly so.

DONT BE A HAMB PUPPET!!! who cares what guys on here think! most of the guys who spend waaaaaay to much time on here are livin in a "traditional" box and cant see very far past cookie cutter styling. I think they look cool, and if your doin it to please me, then your gettin the thumbs up here. but do it to please yourself. you'll be a lot happier with the results when you realize that.

I'm not sure.:D The mold was sold and used by a few companies and some changes were made. Indy 500 as shown above was one variation. I made up a set over time. Some were marked and others were not. Be careful when looking. I have one with the spokes closed in like the new ones. I didn't realize it until I got it home. They came in 14" and 15" Check where the valve stem hole is if you want a matching set. One variation had it in the machined rim and some have it between the spokes. PM me a picture and a size.

And prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that you were not around when they were new.:D

I'm still trying to picture, say, Doane Spencer asking all of his buddies if it's OK to run the wheels he likes on his roadster or T-bird.

WTF is with the latest hatin on WWW and 5 spoke mags? Plowboy's done it, the Lil Coffin did it, hundreds of 60s kustoms did it. Yet some of you act like it's a felony or something and it makes me wonder where you base this opinion. Was it super popular? No. But when you even see it on old fuelers from time to time, where's the hatin coming from? Just askin. On topic, those in 15" with WWW on the right car should be "allowed" on any show field. They emulate an old style wheel from the right time period. Go for it.

    what he said, ...X2.

...why do you people care about what others think or like? I just don't get it. When I was building my cars, people would always tell me what I should or should not do. Please yourself and screw everybody else!!!

...BTW, WHAT'S WRONG WITH THIS CAR? (It doesn't belong to me, I just photographed it at the Turkey Run.) Answer: NOTHING

...we now return you to regular programming.

Here is the real thing on my old T-Bird don't see why Repop's would be a problem anywhere.

  25. Build what you want to build, and don't worry about what everyone else's opinion is.

If you like it, it's all that matters. Build your car for YOU, not everyone else. I have my opinion on aluminum wheels and whitewalls, but like I said, it's just my irrelevant opinion.

His choices weren't artificially constrained by the tradition police. It's implicit in HAMB participation that tradition limits our choices, so you can't blame a a guy for polling the members for an opinion on compliance lest they get "busted".

The wheel company was Foresight Ventures(1965-1968). Closed spoke wheels are the Indy 500's, the "Drag Mag" have holes through all spokes.

The new Cragars really look like the Indy 500's... I don't like the center cap though. I like the Indy's bullet style cap better.
