I just like most anything 'Vintage',
and i think i might share those sentiments with a lot of folks that are posting here.
I feel that what I think this thread should or shouldnt be isnt going to make it so.
just enjoy what I like, and skip what I dont.
    Happy New Year

If you dont like it, dont click on it... Me, I like it. Apparently others do to as it's the 2nd most popular thread in HAMB history.

If it bothers you that much, start your own "vintage sales add" thread :D

  3. im with you on this one.
keeping a focus on car related pictures would be on topic.
not ww2 everything(planes, boats, and other off topic stuff not related to hot rods.)
pictures of obscure actors/actresses, and jazz musicians that have nothing to do with cars.
vintage shots of hot rod related stuff only would be nice.

If you narrow the focus to include only certain things and exclude others you narrow the same group of people that would view and participate which would further narrow the focus. People have voted by making this a popular thread that has become a microcosm of the hot rodding era that spawnwed the devolopment of our cars.
Image a car show that did not allow owner modifacations that weren't originally intended as stock or option. Uhhh, wait a minute, that's why we're all here. Let it go and find old photos that would benefit this thread. It'll be OK.

I thought it was a thread for vintage shots of all kinds. Personally, I like seeing the old ads.

Route 9 through Washington County is known as the Airline. Lawrence Lord advertised his business along the Airline by mounting a 1941 Studebaker truck with an old "Cable Pounder" on it as an eyecatcher to the traffic passing by his home and business. The Keystone machine had a 36-foot tall drill post on it

Roger Weatherbee is well remembered by many for his fly-by of Lincoln on May 20, 1946. Roger flew this plane from Florida to Presque Isle air base after being stationed in Florida after WW II. On his return flight, being so close to home, it was only natural he would want to fly to Florida via his hometown of Lincoln. He did this in great style. After buzzing the town at a very low altitude, with students at the Ballard Hill School being able to look right into his cockpit, he then turned the plane upside down and flew straight down Main St. and up over his home on High St.

Roger was in the actual fighting of the war and flew many combat missions in a P-38 fighter plane.
Roger and his P-51 plane has been talked about since that momentous day and now a model of this plane, upside down, hangs in a corner of a room in the Lincoln Historical Museum with a painting of the high school behind it.

If you have not seen the Chicago auto show history link yet you should
    http://www.chicagoautoshow.com/show_history/default.aspx?d=1950&y=1955
You can select the year you want and review pictures taken at the show. The photos are small but they are great with lots of prototypes and show cars. Here are a few examples.

Of course the 1956 Pontiac starchief juniors is what first attracted me to the site
