Yeah, a few years back. My dad even asked me if I wanted to go this year. :(

I don't think so, but does anyone know for sure if this #34 is Jim Malone?

Kevin Brown the #77 repainted # V3 was sold to a man across the pond and was shipped to England I believe.

Thanks for the info on the #77. I'd love to have a contact name if anyone has it. That was truley the best looking car I'd ever seen when it was done. It won Best Appearing at Loudon in 2005. The trophy went with the car when I sold it. It is the one I regret selling the most. It ran as well as it looked. It had a very healthy SK motor in it and everything in the car was brand new when I restored it. If I have time this weekend I will scan some of the restoration pictures and post them.

The car was started to be restored by Jimmy Riddle from Orange, CT. Jimmy passed away suddenly and I purchased the car from his family. I finished it as the #77 as it had the coupe body on it. But the car was originally the #99 red pinto that Bob Riley drove at Danbury. Alan Benincaso cloned that car and it runs with STAR I believe.

Jim Leary and I became good friends after I had done the car. We see each other at the reunions for Danbury.

Bullfather, thanks for posting the Danbury pictures. Since John closed the Danbury website, this is one of the few places to find Danbury pictures. Lasheefs has some on his site, but there haven't been any new ones posted there in years. Thanks again.

We have to remember that part of auto racing is "the show" !!!!

The front stretch and the wrecks there that tore up cars were a good part of what brought the large passionate crowds back week after week. .... In turn those large, passionate and loyal crowds are what paid the unusually large purses back then ... it's those fans that made the place a sucess.

Gotta mention that the midgets put on one hell of a great show at the Danbury Racearena too!!!

I want to wish everyone here a HAPPY, PROSPEROUS, SAFE AND HEALTHY NEW YEAR !!!!!!

a bit earlier than 60'-70's, but does any one have any info on this track? I never heard of it before, looks like one I'll be talking to Marty Himes about! :)

Here are 2 vintage modifieds I restored. #19 raced by Ed Thompson on dirt & asphalt and the #77 raced by Chip Lanz on asphalt in New York State.

Photo property of Will Hoctor. Late-1950s Modified racing at Buffalo's old Civic Stadium. That's Lenny Justa, I'm told, in the Studebaker.

Sorry to take so long to reply. maybe someone has already answered your question...the clubs are NEAR, and STAR. They are both doing shows around New England. It's really too bad that the really authentic cars from the fifties and sixties don't have a place to run regularly, but they are for the most part parked I guess.

Here's an article from the NY Times dated July 7th 1907. Looks like they were using a different type of horsepower. It was a trotter track.

From what I can glean it was located near the Islip High School Lacrosse field behind the McDonald's. Willowbrook Rd. ends in the Willowbrook apartment complex.

I bet Marty already knew this...................:D

Knowing him he probably has something from this place.

Hemiheadnc re: post #7857, I remember the #48 at Holland as well as sitting at speedy Grecos garage. Here is a photo of it that I found in a 1973 four score yearbook.
