Hi Rik When I get home tonight, I will scan them individually so they'll be larger and get them posted. Mark
PRICELESSS rodncustom (Mark) What a great shots... and those tailpipes on Earl's 1940 Ford... I had never seen those!!!
Great pics from Rodncustom. Its rare to see rear shots. So it isn't just the the Ricers that have silly exhausts! Is it just me or do most of the cars just have the one blue dot in the RH tailight?
That chopped '40 convertible at the Used Car Lot is stunning (to me). The same pre-war look I am going for with my '36! (minus the spots). Looks like the car behind it is a custom as well. What year was that taken? Looks like it is somewhere around '48/49.
Probably Earl had passed Tucker oneday....these pics look like they could be from before Tucker built his 1st cars I have never seen Earls coupe in pics this early , I love it even more now!!
i love this chevy!!! im glad you found a front shot of it. i think im going to chop my 41 just like this one. i like ( on the rear shot of it ) that they cut the rear window down.
Mark, I guess thats your grandfather Stan Baker's heavy chopped 1936 Ford sedan in the background. Can you tell us some more about his trip? Did he live in California back then, or did he go on a Custom Car viewing trip? Did he ever tell you about this, and what he saw and who he met back then?
Look at the fender. It had been wrecked. Also, those bumper brackets look like they're chromed. Great photos rodncustom!
Here's a 40 Merc Convert channeled? or top Body seams gone? A friend of mine owns it.....Her Dad built it in the late 50's
I sure wish there are more photos were those came from mark Does anyone recognize any of the cars in the used car lots? As Rik noted one of the lots are D & B Auto Sales. But some photos seems to be taken at one or two ther lots...does anyone recognized these?
Thanks Rodncustom !! As others have mentioned this thread just keeps getting better!! Do you have any more pics of your Grandfathers 36?
Hi Rik One of the biggest regrets I have is that I didn't talk to him about the 40's and 50's in California. He did live in Long Beach, CA. Up until the time of his passing, I was interested in the cars, but not the history. Maybe it was just an age thing on my part. Anyways, I really wish I would've talked to him about this time period. All I have to go on now is the pictures, documentation, my dad, and my grandfathers freinds that I still speak to today.
