    They probably claimed it as a Malibu. It must have been a Canadian body, or, someone added the Malibu SS script to the rear quarters (it was the same script as a 65 car).

    When I put mine together, I used a 67 SS parts car, a 66 Beaumont front end and bumper (chevelle grille) and 66 Beaumont bucket seats. It all looked ok to the average joe.

    would the bucket seats and console been an avail. option in the non-SS
    Malibu in '66?

    I don't think so. I also have never saw any with buckets that wasn't a Malibu SS car.

    This statement was on the link I posted earlier " As for the Malibu SS, it was the means by which you got bucket seats in your 135 or 136 series Malibu Sports Coupe or Convertible."

    For those who haven't witnessed a Pontiac "Beaumont" with buckets, think of a Malibu with GTO-type interior trimming...

    As to a mid-'60s Parisienne with a smallblock, my first car was a '65 Parisienne Convert with a 327/275-Powerglide... With a lil effort, I swear you coulda put FOUR engines under that hood...and they looked even more massive with the 250-6!

    As has been said many times, in this thread and on this site, "hardly a day goes by that I'm not learnin' somethin' new..."

    Relative to US numbers, these cars would be considered "rare" in total. A friend is currently parting a well-rusted '68 Grand Safari with a 427/385, but compared to US 428s, the numbers would be paltry. I had George at GM-Canada Historical Services "trace" a "numbers-matching original" 427/385-Turbo 400 '67 Laurentian Coupe from Calgary a few years' back..."283-Powerglide" was its actual OEM driveline. "Less than 12 427/385 Laurentian 2drs were built, and this isn't one of them", he confirmed...

    How old, and where, did your ad come from?

    I recall someone from Scarborough (?) being competitive @ Deseronto-Mohawk with a gray '69 Laurentian 2dr HT 427/335 in Stock, and a friend who had a lot of fun with a '64 Parisienne Convert 409/340-4spd. But I did NOT recall any US-run success...so thanks, all, for your info.

    YES! My best friend had a Marina Blue '67 with the 327/325 (actually 350) and it had blue bucket seat interior. One of HIS Air Force buddies had a 1966 that was it's twin, except with a 327/350!!

    I think it is Race City but I don't know for sure. A guy from a Chevy Club sent it to me. I have also saw this pic on a couple of web sites so I don't even know who took it. I would say it was taken in 70-1 era. I did a google and Shaw is still in business as a GM dealer.

    No relation to McDonough tires in Livingston. A friend of mine years ago worked at Hoffman machine for John. I think his name was Frank, from N. Plainfield. I loved the Cole & Stauss Chevelle wagon. I also was in awe of the SS/OA '66 Chevy II of the Locke Bros. "Far Out". I remember always parked in front of the garage across the street from Cantores' Bar & Grill where we would all go after the races with Berserko and the rest of the crew from Raceway Park. Did you know Louie "the Lip" Hroncich. He drove a bunch of AMC cars in Stock, Super Stock and Super Street? He raced at Raceway Park, Atco and a bunch of other tracks? He ran a Javelin in stock ....green with a vinyl black top and a huge Citgo logo on the doors ....he ran a garage/gas station down the Jersey shore.

    "Cantores' Bar & Grill where we would all go after the races"




    My friend was in Cantore's after racing at E-Town that day......His car was on a trailer behind a suburban that both belonged to another friend and he was with him. Another racer came in and after a little conversation they realized the race car/truck and trailer were gone from the parking lot!

    Thieves were stealing cars in and around Raceway Park that year. There was a car theft ring from Queens NY.......they had young teenagers doing the thefts and they drove straight to NY.......some cars were street raced right out in plain sight of the local cops........My friend got his car back after about 2 weeks of intense detective work and with the help of some other racers whose cars were stolen. They also got a lot of help from some NY State people.....Car was mostly complete and he still has it today. Everything else was gone and they got some insurance money for some of it. I know of some other stories of stolen cars around Raceway Park but with much worse endings......I never leave my rig without disabling it when I am on the road for racing.....
