just startin a project 1950 F1...gathering the pieces and putting it together...just about have everything...by the way am new to this forum...
I drive a '48 F1. I'm working on a '50 F4 at the moment. There's a 52 F2 and a 48 F6 in the pasture. The 52 F6 just dropped a driveline today when the U-Bolts on the rear spring lost a wedge the PO stuck in there - that was a bunch of fun.
Picking up a '52 on sat, currently have a rusty-ass POS '48 parts truck that's being stripped down and cut up in the driveway as we speak! Anyone need anything off it? Sheet metal is pretty much toast, frame is junk, hood is fair...
I got a 50 f1 in the works. 51 front grill,5 inch chop, 6 inch z'd frame front and rear. should be painted by end of month. sorry no pics on work computer. metalman your truck looks to be an awesome start. mike
My 48F1,my avatar just recieved a 9 inch.Waiting for an order of aluminum silacate to blast the grille with. Blaster needs a new metering valve for the medium, everything wears out so fast and is so expensive to replace. 1/13/11 Duh,finally remembered McMaster Carr, they have everthing ,the stainless ball valve was around $30 shipped .It was here the next day. Of course they are in Il. as well as me.
I'm working on my 51 panel at the moment. Just got the volare welded in and the 9" hung. Also have a 51 supercab project thats on hold.
Someday soon I hope to get a 48-50 Ford truck. I have a 1947 but sold it. I'd rather have another 47 since I think they are better looking. Hard to find tho.
...here's one I'd sell if anyone's interested... ...couldn't sell this one, so I converted it to a pickup bed, changed the engine, etc.,...now I just love it, don't wanna sell it...
I just got T-10 installed and waiting on the shortened driveshaft. A Magnuson blower is next. I love this truck. Owned it since 1983, had it on the road about 1 1/2 years.
im building a 50 f1 with a 51 clip. hopefully will be done this spring, just took it for a few shakedown runs this week, so it runs, kinda drives, turns and kinda stops... its getting there though. imo i think these trucks have more character then the chev's, maybe its just because you dont see the fords as much. i like both, just prefer the f1's mine has a 71 malibu front clip (bad choice, not my doing) a pretty big notch in the rear with stock suspension thats teaked a little to get it lower (scooted the hangers up the frame and removed some leafs) it has a worked over 350 with a th400 and a 9" in it. once i finish/paint it i want to make it my daily driver
Recently picked up a pair of 48's. #1 (on truck) and #2 (on trailer) Answered a CL ad for #2 and it turned into twins. The seller bought them a few months previously from his 80 year old neighbor. The neighbor aquired them in 1982 with a restoration plan in mind but never started. Seller started his restoration of #1 with new tires. Then he pulled off the fenders, bed and front clip . That's when he lost motivation. He told me "it was a lot more work than I'd remembered" I plan on having #1 road worthy for summer. (on right) #2's fate is still undecided. (left)
Here's a short vid and a couple of pics of my 500ci powered 49; http://s546.photobucket.com/albums/hh405/bobbytnm/?action=view¤t=SmokinJan18-09.flv Bobby
Nice looking projects everyone, wish I could figure out how to post a photo, I do however have a couple in my profile if anyone is interested.
I've got several, F-2, F-3, F-6, all '51's, and now for the shameless plug, a 1951 F-1 Panel truck for sale in the classifieds for a great price. Sorry, just had to do it. Dave
