I paint for Bowsher Racing. I think its really cool that people are preserving Jack's old race cars. He built some great stuff. Welcome to the board!

I did not mean to imply that I took the picture like I said in several of my other posts I don't know who took the pics and I don't remember where I got them but thanks for taking them.

ARCA GUY: Another hot shoe around there was "Frantic" Fran Harden. Although he never had the great equipment the others had.

Thank you for your welcome. I'm coming out to Springfield later this year, we'll have to hook up. Still looking for pictures of the '71 and '73 Newland Torinos. Someone on Randy Ayers Grayside site has found one photo of the '71.....needless to say I am very happy...but if there are more it would be great.

    Thanks

Here is a picture of Moose Peterson and Tom Nesbitt. They were from Black River Falls WIS. and were noted for racing to many wins and also building cars for many locals and others that cut their teeth at the local Black River Falls Speedway in the mid 60's. Picture courtesy of Roger Peterson.

    Rocket Speedway

Wayne Niedecken left and center, I was shooting his spin when I lost him in the view finder as he was up in the air headed for me. Rocket had no inside guard rails. Right is unknown to me

Speaking of Dayton, Wilbur e-mailed us this morning to tell us that Chick Hale passed away. A good fella, and a good racer. He had been in ill health for the last couple of years, according to the daytonspeedwaylives.com website. I last saw him at a "Old Timers' Night" hosted by DARF a couple of years back. RIP.

The old Fairgrounds Motor Speedway at Louisville. Practically lived there from 1961 until 1980, mostly as starter/flagman. The state fair board didn't renew the lease at the end of the 1980 season. Check out the full grandstands. I think this aerial was taken during the ARCA race for the season opener after the track was expanded to 1/3-mile. I don't believe we'll never see another track built so close to a major city...
