This is funny! I never thought Nash tried racing. I've got a '65 Rambler American with the 195.6 engine - designed in about '50. While I like my car, I'd think that Nash would come in just about last. Perhaps it's there to pick up stragglers walking after their car breaks down.

Sure don't profess to know much about planes, but I'm fairly certain the America didn't put the Stars on Japanese planes and then haul them down "Main St." on parade - unless there is some sub-text going on here. Anyone???

Looks like a Grumman f7f prototype. Twin engined folding wing long distance carrier based plane developed late in WWII but never deployed,

the marines also wanted a high endurance fround support and attack aircraft.

Not a Rambler, but AMC nonetheless. Bobby Allison drove Matadors for Roger Penske in the NASCAR Winston Cup Series for a few years, I think it was in the mid 70s. Others ran Nashes and Ramblers in earlier NASCAR events, and probably ARCA as well. If memory serves, I think Allison was most successful, winning 4 or 5 races. Mark Donahue might've also ran a few races for Penske in AMCs but I don't recollect if he ever won in one.

Yeah - I like the Nascar Matadors, and the Trans Am series Javalins are cool, as are the AMXes. And the '57 Rebel was quick. I was mainly blathering about the 195.6 and early variants that would be in the Nash Statesman, Nash Rambler, Rambler Classic and Rambler American. But checking further, the Nascar Nash was the Ambassador, and would have used the bigger 6.

Now I have some researching to do! The Ambassador 6 was also used in the Nash Healey. I'm sure parts would be hard to find, and my wife would shoot me, or make me live in the garage - but I'd like to learn a lot more about the early competition Nashes. (I guess I could research without actually looking for a '50 Ambassador).

When you find one put it back in the corner of the garage and fluff up the dust around it. When she asks about it say it's been there for years. I tell my wife I'm buying for her auction after I take a dirtnap.

A Nash with the recliner seats would work fine for a guy banished to the garage! I could let my '66 Apache popup camper go. Put the Nash where the popup is. I've got a bunch of home-brewed Amber Ale in the garage, a little home-brewed Extra Strong Bitter Pale Ale in there, and have 5 gallons of American Pilsner brewing now. Got wireless Internet access and Netflix over the 'Net.

Yeah, being banished to the garage might work out fine! I should get started on irritating my wife ahead of time.
