Ok this week a I got a bit more done on my 1/8th resin tudor body conversion. The side windows are now basically done. However I won't be finishing of the beltline details and window surround 'pressings' until I finish the rest of the roof. As the beltline detail and window surround 'pressings' will require a lot of serious filing and sanding, so I want everything to be pretty strong. So for this week's images I have taken a heap of shots of the mocked tudor on my ' Real Steel ' ch***is. And whilst I was at it ,I threw on my in-progress resin 3W window body and then I made a wheel change. So here are the images, all very similar, but I think they are neat to look at! Geoff aka whodaky Then I thought I may as well put the 'Real Steel' roadster back on it's ch***is.
Lookin' good Geoff! I wonder how Dan at SMC is doing on his "Real Steel" Deuce with the Offy motor?? Maybe he can jump on in here and post his build... Where are ya Dan??
nice work, been out of models for some time.i'am really looking for some time to start agian.alot of insperation here. thanks
Is nice and pleasant here this morning. Yesterday, your today was extremely hot. But the beauty of this technology is we can convey all this stuff around the world in micro-seconds. Geoff aka whodaky
Dug out a couple of my old(built in 1987-8) cars;need to get much better shots. Sounds like a tomorrow project. One on-topic,one slightly o/t cars here. First is a Jo-Han '63 Olds Starfire. I did racing vehicles for the most part;this was done to surprise the rest of the model club membership at our monthly meeting. I showed up early, placed it on the projects table and waited for the rest of the crew. The next guys to show up were our resident "Kustom" builders and they were in on the ruse. When the rest of the group showed up,they all gave kudos to the other two cats who followed me in. Didn't tell 'em until the end of the meeting that the resident race builder did a mild custom. Paint is Testors gold base, and about 5-6 coats of Testors transparent red over that. The flames were found in the decal box, were originally orange, and went on after the 4th coat of the transparent red. They really jump out in the light. Some detailing under the hood and body. Next is a copy of the '68 Trans-Am Camaro driven at St. Jovite by Mark Donohue. Cady decals, about 5 coats of Testors transparent blue over a Testors Sky(light) blue base-which is finally showing some age cracking-and some extra detailing. Also included rear disc brakes;pieces came from who knows what kit. Got into building 1/43 scale kits in '87,and did almost 200 of those into the early Nineties-and burned out. I've kind of had the urge to try it again; If the eyes and hands and patience will allow for it. I do check Evilbay often for a Jo-Han '64 Fury hardtop kit(which has Sport Fury interior parts). Then,I need a Jo-Han '64 Dodge for the chrome steel wheels and some other parts,and,and,and... I will try to get some better pics of these cars and some of my 1/43rd stuff tomorrow. You guys have displayed some incredible pieces ;keep 'em coming, please!
Here are a couple of replicas of my Model A Coupe and Roadster. They aren't scale models but made from toys so they aren't exact, so don't look too close. The coupe is a modified Matchbox Model A and the roadster is a Tonka.
I really enjoy the HAMB and how like-minded folks world-wide get to share their interests and accomplishments. Whodaky - I hope you aren't having to deal with those terrible floods over there.
Anyone else having trouble getting on to the HAMB model community forum or is it just me? Did a search, but no luck. Have I missed something here?? Cheers Rod
Does anyone still make the plastic louvers that you could glue on a hood or deck? I remember them but haven't found any currently. I'm also wondering if someone makes a Caddy/Olds air cleaner? Thanks.
Try www.thepartsbox.com they did do glue on louvers, you may also be lucky with the air cleaners too. Now as to the time disparage? C'mon guys, we all know America is always behind us Aussys!! Doc. EDIT: I have some louvers from the AMT 36 Coupe if you want them, send me your addy and there yours.
Caddy aircleaners are avaliable from Replica Miniatures of Maryland and the Parts Box from Down Under Regarding the louvers in the old '62 Mercury Comet from amt are some chrom louvers
Is there a source for those halibrand style wheels? Can I buy them somewhere? Or are they one-off custom?
Here's a bellytanker from me.It's an old build, can't build them as fast as I used to for sure.New priorties,kids-kids-kids.They take alot of your time. But thats cool,I'll get back to building a little at a time. I'm planning to do another one like this totally weathered out(sortof in the OLDCROW vein).
Hey! Sunday comes early in Sweden too Great work as usual fellas! I have no new completed build but in progress: It's a annual AMT 1963 Bonny that was almsot mint when I started. Collectors would probably like to see me "hung, drawn & quartered" for shaving the charictaristic Bonneville chrome trim (and acutally getting this gem built). However, my intention is to have the look of a Grand Prix/Catalina B/FX'er from 1963. I noticed the taillights were missing so I just ordered from Modelhaus so the project will be stalled until they arrive. Thanks for looking, Johnny
The louvers on my Olds came from the AMT '49 Merc kit...I think? It's been a while. Nice stuff here, folks!
What's the best adhesive to use on your projects? I'm not having much luck with keeping parts "glued together." It's been a h***le!
I mostly use super glue, it really hold things together! Just be careful, don't scratch your **** with that stuff on your fingers
Man, you guys always show some inspiring work! I don't have time to build anything these days, but I got a new camera and thought I'd try taking some shots of some of my old builds. Here's a 57 Chrysler that I chopped using the custom half top from the AMT 50 ford convert to fill the rear window area. Other mods include fixing the fugly stock hood, molding in the stock tailights and filling/smoothing the license plate area in the trunk(not shown)
