Yup, guilty of posting "reported", not any more thou. 1000 acounts in 14 hours! Ryan pajama's indeed!
always report it as soon as I see it, I won't make anymore comments, sometimes people like to have fun at these idiots expense, but I didn't know it was such a big problem with this forum being targeted. how about a filter that automatically reports any post with the word viagra, or penis, or make money, etc? nomal posts almost never have those words and it would be a red flag. also guys be really careful with those spams, you might see a fake intro with a word highlighted, this is usally a link to spam and often to a virus in that link, those of us computer literate know this, but a lot of people don't.
Thanks Ryan, for that heads-up. Guys and Gals, Let's do all we can to help protect this site we all care so much about....Don.
Thanks for the guidelines Ryan , I'll admit I'm guilty of having told a few spammers recently what I thought of them . I will keep my trigger finger in my pocket now . Thanks , Rod .
It's going to be interesting to see what happens next to the Internet. At this point, we can't have a forum without it being monitored 24/7. A typical Google search turns up with the majority of results leading to link farms. Anti-virus/spam/spyware is a billion dollar business. Nobody wants regulations but if you look at the way Usenet turned into a wasteland it makes you wonder what can be done.
I mostly just hit report as requested, have done a reply once or twice. What I don't understand is what is the purpose of some of them that don't have any links in them, etc. What can possibly be the benefit to them if there is nothing to click on and possibly get info. with or click revenue? And how does replying to the post help them? Just asking so I can figure it out and understand better what these a-holes are up to and better prepare myself for their current tricks and future ones too. If anybody knows, I for one would be happy to understand it a bit better. Like anything, knowledge is power. Regardless, from now on just report, no replies. Thanks for taking care of all the dirty work.
Good luck. Just figured out how to keep them from registering on my caddy site last week...finally don't have to sort though 100's of registrations every day.
on a couple of other forums I frequent the moderators have added a couple of subject related trivia questions that must be answered before access to posting priveledges is granted. They have also restricted the types of access vehicles that are allowed, for example any G mail based requests are denied. The host media for those forums is the same as this one so the plateform will accept some security questions for the registratioin process. One moderator has reported that those changes have cut the spamming attempts by an appreciable amount.
Id like to find those s.o.b's and give em a facelift with a louisville slugger if they ever spammed my stuff! Sorry, Im not very good at being a HAMB keyboard tough guy! Message received.
