Who has a STRAIGHT 6 in your HotRod? Come On, stand up!

My 57 F100 is runnin a 300c.i. Ford 6 with an AOD and 370 gear. It has an 4bbl Offy dual-port intake and EFI cast iron headers and full duals. Weighing in at 3650 lbs, it runs OK but it's no hot rod. I built it to be a tow vechicle with a reciever hitch etc., and it will do that nicely. About 14 MPG (no load).

Wow Cjmac, that's a really bitchin' air cleaner assembly on your truck. I can see dual carbs with two of those side-by-each.

 

I'm pulling the 235 blue flame out of my '59 belair and jamming a 283 w/350 combo in it soon. I'll take that 235 and will either jam it in my '36 chev mordoor or my '26 chrysler rpu. probably the 36 chev to be honest. Gunna get it converted from the p-glide to a borg-warner manual

 

I have a straight six in mine, but it may not be Hamb friendly.........................

 

Here is a photo shop of the finished car I hope to be rollin in this spring.It will have a 200/C4 for a later mustang.2.90 geared 8 inch ford rear,so it should roll down the highway no problems.

 

For my T Project I got a 223 with a 3 speed. All stock at this time. Not even started on the engine, Just setting on a cart waiting for me to finish the frame.

Any of you guys get good gas mileage with your 6 ?

 

Absolutely! Running a 292 with twin Weber progressive two barrels, four speed, and a 290 rear gets me 20/22 MPG if I behave myself. I get a kick when my buddies with the BBC's stop for fuel when I am still running 3/4 of a tank. Sure, they can blow me away at the light, but who races on the street anymore anyhow? I draw more attention at shows with my six because who hasn't seen a billion chromed/billited V8's? You can't swing a dead cat by the tail at a car show without hitting a SBC.

 

My sprint 6 is in a '52 pickup with a T5 (.72 OD), 3.90's, and 28" tall tires. It got about 18mpg average on our Frog Follies trip last August. That was mixed driving. The motor is bored out, has duals with glasspacks, and a pertronix ignition... otherwise the setup is stock as is its quadrajet.

got a 300cui in mine '65 ford f100 mild custom. Runs like hell. Have the three on the tree and have to get other gears in the back.

The intake is a Clifford 2 x 4 with homemade two barrel adapters with two Autolite 1.08 2Vs. It works great with no heat (other than the cramped underhood confines of the '33 Willys coupe). No stumbles, bog or weak tip-ins.

Runs 13s at the drags on street rubber.

223 in my 59 f100, 200 in one of my 66 mustangs, both stock for now

 

Mine.... Ford 300, in a 33 Ford pickup. Still in mock-up stage. It does run good now..

Got a 235 in my 54 kustom I'm building. split stock exhaust manifold. wouldnt have it any other way. too many sbc's in em i think.

Here's mine. Not all that pretty, but it runs like a champ. Will probably get replaced by a SBF in a few months.

 

This isn't really an air cleaner per se, but I did fab up this formula-like scoop for my RPU six-banger, from .060 aluminum.

 

Sorry about the OT glass body , but this is my model A pickup with 292 . New long motor on the way with big cam to go with the dual weber's and 2 peice headers . Should be a fun car !

 

Looks like the same Clifford set up as mine. I had problems with blowing/burning out the paper gasket for the intake/exhaust to head, due to, I believe, to the uneven thicknesses of the mounting flanges and Clifford not providing any hold down pieces that go in between. PM me if you run into the same problem. I think I have the problem finally solved. ~WX1
