Falcon Gasser;I found that the slapper bars on a lifted car are hard to get to work properly.I finally got mine to work decent by lengthening them so that the snubber was right under the spring eye with about 3/4" gap.I then went the T-Bolt style route and they stopped all wheel hop but were not adjustable and caused the rear to bind.I think they could be made to work if you put housing floaters on and made the front attachment point adjustable.I'm running coil overs and ladder bars now, should have done that about 30 years ago, would have saved money and grief!!! ROY.

One of those Comets became Doug Nash's '64 B/FX car if I'm not mistaken.

Roy, thanks for your input. There is no wheel hop issue at all its just the location is going to take its toll on the leaf spring. I set them up with no gap so it would leave the line better then having the gap. The coil over is the best way but really would not fit the style on this car. The car does not sit as high as it looks when just parked but it lifts at the end of the burn out and when it leaves the line it lifts the entire car front and rear. I run cal-track style bars on my Falcon and they work great but they were wanting to do an older looking set-up on there Comet.

To everyone that responded,THANK YOU for the kind words.I am excited but pessimistic at the same time.I've been through this before with no follow through after the photo shoot. This is the third time for CC,so maybe "third time is a charm"!!! ROY.

Jon[Falcon Gasser];can you extend the forward edge of the bar so the snubber hits directly under the spring eye? They will damage the spring if you allow the bar to keep pounding on the leaf. ROY.

I think we are just going to build something like in the picture and yes I was concerned when I saw what they were using and thats why I moved the snubber tight against the spring at least for this past season until we had a chance to come up with something better. I had another person send me some pictures of what they are using on there Falcon and they are very much like whats in the picture, we might move them more forward towards the front of the car.

The 64-65 Comets set up as gassers are fucking timeless.. they will always be the image.. right up there with the 40-41 Willys these are the images that pop into my head when some one mentions gassers.
