    Drag racing
Hornets were campaigned on dragstrips from 1972 and became well-known by their bold red, white & blue graphics.[29] Drivers on the Pro Stock circuit included Wally Booth (backed by AMC until 1974), as well as Rich Maskin and Dave Kanners captured top awards.[30] Some drivers converted from AMC Gremlins when tests with identical engines in 1973 showed that the hatchback Hornet had an advantage with higher speeds and lower times.[29] The 1974 Gatornationals and the 1976 U.S. Nationals and World Finals were won by Wally Booth driving an AMC Hornet.[31] The Hornets would do the quarter-mile in 8 seconds reaching 150 mph (240 km/h).

Francois Hardy, French actress, singer and 60s 'it' girl who played the racing groupie Lisa in, arguably, the greatest racing movie ever made, Grand Prix.

"This boat is 'Old Glory' one of the boats that raced with 'Liberty the Second' this photo is dated approximately 1 year after 'Liberty the Second'sunk. It is also reported that this boat sunk after colliding with another boat. Back reads in handwriting, " 'Old Glory' speed boat owned by Mr. Geo. J. Huber, Akron, O. On Turkeyfoot Lake. Makes 60 miles per hour. Sept 21 1923."

"Hutchinson Brothers did not construct another speed boat until 1918, when Alfred Rogers of Toronto commissioned the Claire. She was a 32 foot by 6-foot by 2-foot 4-inch Crouch design of the celebrated "Cinderella" model and was powered by a FS, six-cylinder, 145 hp Sterling motor that traveled at a speed of <!--Begin mp_html_link_26_90f931ab-->34 mph."
