OK here's my story a couple of months ago I leave my shop to go get some dinner. Well before I got to Taco Bell I got side swiped by a drunk on a bike. It caved in my running board and fender on the passenger side. Yea Iknow what your thinking and yes I could have killed him if he had not of ran off. but my question is fenders or no fenders
make a photoshop request from the board- i like the the rolling stock change, not sure about moon discs before seeing them. I'd like to see what she looks like with a black frame and louvered hood sides (or without hood, if ya got a traditional motor) and lower the front a touch... might as well explore all your options... rick
fenderless looks cool for sure, but I am for the fenders on (I am a fan of fenders on since everyone and their mother has a fenderless roadster/coupe). BE DIFFERENT. When it comes down to it and you can't figure out what you want on your own... just flip a coin... you're going to drive it, not us, pick what you want. If you still cant decide do one side of the car without fenders and the other with fenders and keep running from side to side until you like one side more
Fenders!!! IMHO, 33/34's look much better with fenders. 33/4 front fender shape is one of the nicest early 30's fenders. Most anything after 1932 is much tougher to make look good without fenders. 33/4's can sometimes "make it work" if you get rid of the stock inner fenders and pay close attention to the headlights and hood sides. 35 and later become very difficult to flow without fenders.
My opinion is get another '33-'34. Run one with fenders, one without. You'll never have to agonize over making such a difficult decision again!
do a search for the photoshop thread, and post your pics there- there are some very talented guys that may work a little magic on your pics for you. It's your ride though, so make it look the way you want- you can also search for other cars that fit the idea (33 fenderless, etc) to get an idea of what the look is like. good luck, nice ride! rick
Leave the fenders off and take the hood side off. You can always put the stuff back on later if you get bored with the look. Nice car by the way.
Looks better with them off, though you really need to get the tall bias ply's and some steelies. Failing that some pie crust slicks on the back and some halibrand mags. I guess I'm a sheep but I am going with the crowd, the hood sides look terrible, keep them on but paint them. They would look even better with louvers punched in them and the hood tops. Yup, we will happily spend your money! Doc.
I,m building a 34 here, was going to be fenderless right from the start. About 6 to 8 weeks ago we dragged the fenders down from the roof space and just mocked it up to see what it was like. Spent the last 4 weeks here laid up with a busted ankle wondering what to do with those damn fenders, should have sold em when I had the chance.
IMHO the car needs fenders with the style of the car,,street rod, smooth look a solid. The car screams Boyd type Street Rod. With a more traditional solid one color paint job and a different hood and a more traditional look I would hang the fenders up in the barn.HRP
I think the fenders look good either way. Some taller skinnier tires would be cool on either spokes or steelies. I think it's the hood sites that make the car not look right. IMHO
No Fenders. Nice car that looks fast just sitting with the fenders. Also lill make car more stable at speeds over a 100
Put the fenders back on, change out the hood side and go with some taller bias ply tires. But what the hell do I know!!!
Which do you prefer. Maybe repair the damage and then put the fenders on a rack. When you get bored with it fenderless put them back on when you decide that fenders isn't cool take them back off.
Find the drunk on the motorcycle and thank him...................for not letting you eat at "Taco Hell."
Usually fenderless would be my answer without a thought, but your car looks better with the other style choices you made, plus you have the added advantage of paint protection. other side of the coin It is cheaper to not fix your damaged parts and a fenderless 33 that you can drive now is pretty badass!
If you're not planning on changing anything else i think put the fenders back on. But if you are going to run some nice tall skinny ply tyres then off for sure.
Iam a fender man , but it looks good either way . MY $.02 DAMN DEM DRUNK BIKERS. was he a biker or did he ride a import ?
