That ride belonged to Ron Main. the Guy that built "Flat Fire", now the "Speed Demon" owned by George Poteet. I talked with Ron about it and he said it's a 2 speed. the main body consists of 2 boxes filled with the rubber bands. One box lets loose at the starting line, then when it's spent, the second box kicks in. He never got a run out of it in '09, and I didn't see it in their pits last year, so who knows how fast it could go?

HAHA! OK Guys, maybe I should rephrase 'Weird' to 'unexpected'... in a good way... Not like lifting a girls skirt and seeing a *******.

But I still would like pictures and stats!! I searched 1967 Camaro Flathead Bonneville and the first thing that pops up is....

Okay... You got me goin' now... The EXPECTED thing to see on the salt is the BIZARRE. But it spills over to the State Line Casino too, at Cruise Night (and day)

That's a Yamaha 4 cyl. I had to REALLY look it over to find their logo on a casing.

I was watching for this air powered car to run this year because I wanted to here it. I missed it. It was from France. It is powered by compressed air. They used a scuba tank compressor to charge the tanks, and expected to run 200 mph. I never did find out how they did.

It was quite a peice of engineering. The same group had a small motorcycle they ran. They built it in a way that allowed them to take the bike apart and bring it over from France in there carry-on.

FYI - that wasn't just any guy who ran that motorhome to a record - it was Alex Tremulis!

. . . and it was El Mirage, not Bonneville.
    (Unofficial record, too.)

The rubber band car was at Bonneville in 2008 and they planned to run it but after problems with Speed Demon, they ran out of time trying to keep the real reason they are there running right. I think Ron said it has gone about 30 MPH in testing with some problems

Ghia has a VW water cooled engine. Was the cl*** standard until Hondata came along with their pair of cars.

  20. My rant of the day (and not trying to jack a thread). Why does speed channel not have a few shows on the lakes? Instead I get to watch stupid %$#ing bobsledding and a NASCAR style talent show! I emailed the telling them to get out to bville and get some footage. The history of these places alone is worth some episodes. Done rant.
