McMaster-Carr sells the rod ends. Left and right hand threading available. Also available in stainless steel. They also have linkage rods, etc....

For those that don't want to see the linkage, build a cover over it....

As for the length on the arms, they would only be the same length if the travel for the wipers is half that of the motor, ***uming the motor is the type that spins 360 degrees. If the motor arm goes back and forth, you still need to compare the degrees of travel of the motor and the wipers. If they are different, then you need to adjust the length of the arms to compensate. This is just meant as general tech info....

My hats off to you.... well thought out and good info for the do it yourself guy. A lot of times we see something that will work on a different application with a little tweeking to to fit our application...good fodder for the brain

thanks a lot to everyones replies! As far as the measurement for my arms, they are both 2" long. From pivot point to rod end connection it measures 1-7/8".

Snarl is correct. You need to determine how far your original wiper ***embly arm will travel back and forth and make adjustments to those limits. This again is the arm that is connected to the cable/barrel ***embly (#1 in the pictures of this tech). Were not taking about the travel of the wiper blades
Basically, when the wiper blades max out in either direction, notice what position the wiper arm, connected to the ***embly, is in.

If you watch the video (or know already) this paticular wiper ***embly arm doesnt sweep a full 180. It stops just short on each swipe when the wiper blades max out on the corner of the window to the bottom rest point.

In other words, the wiper ***embly arm doesnt swipe from 9 o'clock to 3 o'clock. It only reaches around 9:30 and over to around 2:30 and back.

Fortunetly for me and the 360 deg. of this motor, it didnt matter and actually helped in keeping it from jamming in the wrong direction when each swipe is repeated.
