Anyone know where I can get foam weatherstripping that will fit over the flat edge of my door openings? The edge is about 3/4" of flat 16 ga. steel, so I need something shaped like edge guard, (U shaped) but made from extruded foam. I just finished doing the carpet and door panels on my Austin sedan, but being an old British car I can't seem to find the weatherstripping I need to cover the door openings.
Check www.yogisinc.com you can order several sizes in height, width, and shape. Sold by the foot and has a 3m self adhesive backing.
I'll check it out. I don't need or want self adhesive backing, as it would need to be inside the channel, and from what I've seen none that have it are inside.
Been there, and talked to them also. 4 styles, and all with adhesive on one outside edge. Nothing in a simple U shape like edge molding, but in foam.
Not sure if they have it on their on line catalog. Its under universal weather strip in the free catalog. I'll go get mine to see if I can get you a part #.
This is a piece of the original weatherstripping: I'll go check and see if theat part number looks close enough. It doesn't need to be exact.
The 798 looks like it might be what I need, but it says it's a rubber extrusion, so I'll call them and see if that's foam rubber, or just rubber. Thanks!
I believe that Steele Rubber has what you need. Go to their site @ www.steelerubber.com. Then go to "shop online", and select "specialty extrusions" on the right side of the screen. They have a section of rubber edging. Not 100% sure, but looks like what you need. They offer that style in sponge rubber & dense rubber. Hope this helps! Dan
http://www.uni-grip.com/Products_Page.html http://www.perfectfit.com/15976/Weatherstrip--Trims.html UniGrip is very high quality stuff, with steel insert in the U channel that locks in place on your panel. its used on High End US produced Heavy Equipment, thats painted yellow? Cant really say much more that that. perfectfit sources for boats, these companies have a lot of bulk roll stripping since many boat interiors are custom built. If this doesnt have the profile you need look up boat interior suppliers / upholstery supply companies.
auveco.com is alos a good place. they specialize in all automotive hardware, stock many clips / fasteners for 1920 to current vehicles also carry many types of weatherstrip profiles
Good deal! I'm glad to hear that will work. I have used Steele on many projects. Their quality is top notch, they have a great selection of application specific & universal products, & great customer service. Sadly that's not so easy to find now-a-days Dan
