Did you ask them what was in the kit before you ordered it?

I don't get why people use Speedway.

Why not contact speedway again and see if the kit was packaged incorrectly. 400.00 should have gotten you a bushel of parts.

If you already had three generic 2gc's wouldn't you have all those parts? No power valves in the ends. Should have had a plug for those though. I read through the instructions and they seem to be good. I don't have the adapters but I downloaded the instructions. Doing homework on my own set up. Found out this morning that my manifold is for a 265. I will have to do what ever to ensure gaskets fit.

Uusually a full OH kit has all necessary parts for an OH at least it use to be. Recient kits I purchased had every thing for the Major OH less floats and I have never seen a kit that had floats in it. For 400 you should have a mechanic come in the box to OH the damn things for you!

since when do floats, gas filters, and accelerator pumps come with a carb kit?!?

there wasn't a list of parts in the description?

no offense dude but with speedway you should expect to get ripped off. 'Speedy' Bill ain't your friend!

edit: I take it back about the acc. pump, I forgot it came with my holley and my qjet kit come think of it

"greedy" bill! LOL! I can't believe I haven't heard that before.

Back when I had my 348 "W" engine trip intake highly reworked that I put on my hopped up .060" over 409, I installed three big Rochester 2-barrels on it that I had scrounged out of the Boneyards for like $4 to 5.00/each off big early '60's Pontiac cars.

Kits had everything except floats and were like $3.75/each!

And this was back when spray can carb cleaner had Methylene Chloride in it and you could hold the carb up in the air in your hand, spray it and watch the crud drip off, no more today!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bought one part from Speedy Bill and now delete daily emails from them, and every 2 weeks get a catalog. They spend more time and money on ads than putting out a quality product.I have never seen a carb kit come with floats and filters.Accelerator pump or at least plunger and springs do come in the kits.

Im with Brent. Speedway's all ChiCom stuff. Why buy anything from them?

  15. So if Speedway is so bad, what are the alternatives? I need a few small misc. parts for my roadster (a little hardware, brake check valves, etc.). Seems easy to just order from the catalog....

Am I off by saying that these carb kits are probably available through Napa? I wouldn't think Rochester two-holers are all that rare.

13.99 @ Auto Zone for the kits
I looked in the catalog and the illustration does not show any of the parts you are missing. I can not believe that everyone but me has a problem with Speedway. The guys on the phone always answer all of my questions about fitment and what else I need.
I will never drive to Lincoln again but their service and parts have suited me and my expectations. I know I have low expectations, bla bla bla

I like Speedway. Always felt I've gotten what I pay for, and quickly. I don't like posts *****ing about stuff however.

  23. I've looked through the HAMB O DEX. But how do I find out who sells what? I don't know anyone. Are there a few guys that are on here you'd recommend?

I love speedway, order one day and have it the next. Never had any problems that were not my fault. I must be lucky, NOT.

I LIKE guys posting their problems with the parts suppliers---bet your *** that the parts types are reading these posts (and of couse, posting their own defense of the company under a HAMB name) and might actually help the poor slob who bought the ****.
Plus, its damm good to know who to watch out for when I do business with them--

Shawn, I'm glad you mention this. I've never bought one part from Speedway and not because of always having an opinion about them. Originally, when I had my first project, I needed a slew of parts (before the HAMB alliance) and I used a local speed shop (back in CT) and tried using small guys and of course used/authentic parts.

Speedway isn't the only game in town, although they're presumably the largest.

Now, after reading, hearing, and seeing bad parts first hand by friends and such I'm glad I sought out my parts elsewhere. As well, since the Alliance came to be, I try to use HAMBers first. To me it's like supporting a local economy.

I'm lucky though, the 20T has nothing really newer than 1936 (or so) on it, unlike my Model A. I did have to get some bearings and a pair of shackles (from Alliance Vendors) and other little odds-and-ends.

All in all, I think there's power in searching out quality companies to do business with. I've had a lot of good experiences and like knowing I'm helping some guy build his own rod or put his kids through school, etc.

  29. Thats easy to answer 1:Huge inventory 2:low prices 3:fast shipping ,order today (request speedy delivery service)recieve it tomorrow. I have dealt with them for years and regardless of what some people say I don't think their complaint department is overly busy..............

You know guys post things for us, it gives us a heads up. I have had good dealings with speed ways. But this is telling me to watch out. It's a warning. I had all the trust in the world in Bob Drake and I feel he screwed me. This is just a heads up warning.
