  7. It's so hard to choose your favorite photo out of the 20,000 plus posted here. I have many favorites for various reasons but I would say, this one is my favorite because it reminds me of days long gone when my Dad would drive me out to spend the summers in the Bronx and we cross the Whitestone Bridge at that time, The Throgs Neck was soon to open. Not that this was either of those bridges but it reminds me of the time Dad was driving us over the bridge is a wind storm in a 48 Austin American 2 dr. I have mentioned that car once before. The wind was bowing us across the lanes. Some memories never leave you, We can smile about it now, that say was like, Uh Oh!

Plus bridges have always intriqued me to the point that later in life I oversaw the construction of one, just as my Grandfather had worked on the Whitestone Bridge as an engineer. And, I love tow trucks and 35 Fords. Bet you all thought I was going to post a photo of a B-Model Mack

Amen to that & to illustrate the point, here's one from 1969, some wannabee rock star(!) & his newly imported T bucket, The Boston Strangler. Whilst on tour in the USA, he saw this parked in the street(!) stopped & bought it (as you do). This was one of many shots taken outside the offices of the magazine that I worked at in South London (Drag Racing & Hot Rod Magazine), near where he grew up in fact. A few years later, he had a crash, damaging the body & chassis, so brought it back to this location for repair, as it was also a body shop (where I continued working up until the early 80s). We straightened up the rear axle, re-bonded the pickup back to the body shell & he took it all away (another story) & rebuilt it. 20 years later, I bought the car from Coys the auction house in London (yet another story) & had it for a few months before the Anhauser Busch brewery company bought it to put in one of their chain of themed restaurants. By this time it was changed quite a lot, it had a blown SBC, a full height screen & a folding top. It's still around today, in the garage of an ex-employee of the brewery but what he's doing with it I don't know.

It must have been a contagious thing for 'hack' musicians in the UK, this one is a Brizio built car for 'Bonzo' John Bonham the brilliant drummer from Led Zeppelin. The car was featured in the movie 'The song remains the same', in that movie he also made a pass in Clive Skilton's Top Fuel car at Santa Pod Raceway.
Although there is some conjecture as to who actualy drove the car, some say it was Clive, others say it was Bonzo.
He also had a black T bucket and a 54 Ford with a big block ford in it but I cant find any pictures of 54.
    The Brizio built T,

Sorry about the poor pic but its the only one I can find, Bonzo'z T,

The Clive Skilton Dragster, in the movie the car is launched from a fire burnout, they never staged the car properly.

  10. Pure enjoyment, no parlor-tricks, opinions, ads, or bullshit, (well, very little). Oldies steaming in the background on another tab. I look here every morning while waiting for my coffee to kick in. It costs me only a few pennies for the juice to run the 'puter. How much better can it get......

That's the same T bucket, John bought it from Jeff & then sold it to a guy called Terry Richards, who put the blower on it (& its personalised reg - I still have those plates!).

Thanks for that, not seen any pics of it when John had it, although I have seen the brief video clips from the film. I see by now it had the full screen & top fitted, but still had that god-awful horn mounted on the side!!!

A friend of mine, Alan Spittle, bought the Brizio C Cab from John & owned it for 20+ years before finally selling it.

Finally found my pics of the Strangler, this is how it was when Jeff first had it, complete with its US registration plate & obviously just after he had registered it here. This was his barn, now redeveloped into his garage complex/ workshop as seen on Car Crazy TV (I think, can't remember exactly what it's called). Still working on his own cars & regularly attends local cruise nights in whatever he feels like at the time!

& this is the rear...with Terry's reg no.

Nads, RIGHT. Jonathan Winters is an original. Others may
have been inspired, but Winters can't be duplicated!

Every time I see this Bogey pic, I can't help cracking up.

I'm on a roll now!! Here's one from 1970, of a typical British rod of the time, taken at Woburn Abbey, a stately home where there was a car show put on by the BDR& HRA.

These were bodies & chassis (& other parts) produced by Geoff Jago from the early 60s onwards & usually powered by 4 pot engines. However, this one appears to have a Rover V8 (Buick 215) in it. Sorry about the bystanders, I'll have to have a word with him next time I look in the mirror(!!) & she looks familiar, oh yeah, it's my wife!!

These were parked up at Santa Pod Raceway in Bedfordshire around the same time, the one nearest the camera is the same one as above.

Is the Jeff mentioned, a certain Mr. Beck? seen a few of his cars around here and saw him once in our local supermarket doing his shopping, would just love to go down the road to see his collection. I'm too shy to approach him :(.

I have to guess I was NOT the only kid riding in the family car
and fascinated with the early oil-company signs with their en-
gaging logo images. My faves were the Sinclair dinosaur,
    Mobil's Pegasus flying horse, Marathon's long-distance runner
and probably the Shell scallop seashell. Repros (and some
originals) of these turn up frequently on eBay, with repros avail-
able reasonably to quite cheap for your garage.

Back in 1963, this was a very big thing in the UK rodding world. This is Jago 1, built by the aforementioned Geoff Jago & based on a Ford 10. It's shown here at the very first Hot Rod & Dragster show in 1963, held in the underground car park at Hyde Park in Central London.

After being missing for years, it resurfaced a few years ago & was finally bought back by Geoff & has been undergoing restoration by his son, Stewart.

I went to that show. Only to look. I had a V8 Pilot at the time. If I remember Brian Coole was one of the organisers
