Lettering on the side says "Port of New York Authority". My guess is the Lincoln or Holland Tunnel.

Well, I don't want to spoil it all here, but this picture looks like it has been photoshopped. The grain of the car is different then the grain of the rest of the pic, both wheels have strange black-ish blots at the bottom and the shadow of the car is way too light compared to the shadow of the traffic-guy. Plus the fact that shadow does vary depending on how close it is to like say; the wheels…

Anyway. Love the thread, it's inspiring to see how people lived back then and I am seriously amazed at howmany pictures some of you guys have.

It's the Lincoln Tunnel. Those little tram cars were in use until a few years ago.

Move over, Shaggs! Here are the Playmates!

Believe it or NOT, these guys had a '58 hit record,
"Little Nash Rambler," about a big Caddy trying
to outrun an upstart compact. It stayed on the chart
12 weeks, peaking at fourth. Though they were
(obviously) a "together" group, their scooter wore
out in '64, so they had to break up. THANKS for
this blast from the past goes to Strider's Journal!
    (strider01.wordpress.com/category/crappy-album-
covers) Lots, lots more schlocky covers there!

Crikey! Thank God it's in stereo! NOTHING
bores me more than monophonic gorilla ac-
    cordion music! Sheesh!

  26. this shot with the 3 chiefs a 46, 47 and 3rd in the background is awesome. I can just image where it was taken? Alaska highway? The trees look sparse but there would not have been much of a road back then. They have more stuff on there bikes than modern tourers can carry. The 46 on the right looks like the headlight might be knocked out, its pointing way too high.
I climbed Mt Washington on my 46 Chief and thought it was quite a feat. Wow what a trip that must have been!
This one does it for me!

I'm not a fan of this one. Looks like the "Ala Don't" Gary
