I know its supposed to be a movie about a motorcycle but, I was watching The Worlds Fastest Indian the other day and I was blown away by the amount of kool cars that were in it. I found myself forgetting to watch the movie and focusing in on all the classics in each scene. If You haven't seen this movie yet ..SEE IT! It's a great movie will some awesome scenery!

After Silence of the Lambs, I don't care WHAT movie that Anthony Hopkins dude is in: I can't look at him without thinking about that cop's head popping off of him in the ambulance!! Yikes! OK, well, fun movie, if not entirely factual regarding Bonneville Salt Flats records. Hey, its Hollywood.... H.

The only thing faked in the movie is they said he went 200. The fact is, his name is still in the book as record holder in class at 167. Its the first car movie ever to come out of Hollywood where no car flipped upside down and burst into flame for no aparent reason. Great movie.

  6. Do a search here for threads around the time it came out. Vern Tardell, Mike Bishop and company provided a bunch of those cars. Several threads discussing them and the movie.

Sure, it stared an Indian motorcycle, but is was a movie about personal achievement and setting goals. You left the theater feeling good, made you want to go home and build or fix something. Thanks Burt!

  12. One of my favorites too. The whole movie is great and the Bonneville stuff really makes it special.

  13. I show it to my students and they really enjoy it. After it's over, I'll ask what they get out of it. Never give up , is the most reply. Great movie.

When the movie trailers started advertising it I really looked forward to seeing it. Anthony Hopkins playing the part of Burt was a no brainer. I had read about Munro when he was at Bonneville doing the stuff. A few of the pioneer motorcycle drag racers also ran at Bonneville at that time and knew him. But it never opened at a theater in the Charlotte area. It went straight to DVD. I bought it and it was everything I expected. It just didn't make sense to produce a movie with Hopkins the star and not open in a major city like Charlotte. Did it open at a movie in your area or go straight to DVD.

Great Movie. I bet I've watched that movie one too many times. I was more blown away by the extra footage in the DVD than anything. Awesome to see a guy have such a strong desire to have something and not stop at anything to get there. Alot to learn there really.

Love that movie. My wife even loves it, and she's usually not into "car" movies.

Burt did top 200 with an unofficial (but timed) run of 205.56. Some say it was 206 but thats splitting hairs. He still holds the S/F record at Bonneville at 183.586. I read where Anthony Hopkins took the part at a fraction of his normal fee because he loved the script and Burt's attitude. And yes, it pays to be nice to the tech guys.

This should be as big as Easyrider. When I saw that Hopkins took the part, I knew it had to be good. No dissapointment, one of the best bike pics ever. Thanks for the old pics! A true Hero. Rest his soul.

exelent film and very under rated, maybe not hollywood enough.only true gearheads would get into it,and after watching a few years ago it made me appreciate my own collection of offerings to the god of speed.

Never played around here in the bigger theaters.A shame it apparently wasn't promoted very much. When I went to see it,the theater had me,and maybe 5 other guys in their 40s and 50s watching.Think we all laughed at the same parts.
And I realized that burning my yard instead of mowing wasn't only my idea.
