does anybody have more pictures of stuff they painted using the RATTLE BOMB FLAKE IN A CAN? I'm sure alot of us wanna see more of what this amazing product can achieve
I used this stuff in my OT daily driver. I used a black base, Roth Surfite Silver Flake and Badazz Blue Candy with Krylon clear. The flake was very easy to use and covered fairly well. Buy more candy than you think you need though. It's a little on the expensive side for spray cans, but the results speak for themselves. There was no other easy way to accomplish this look.
Ive been to the mooneyes site and they seem to have it. Its 20 bucks a can. Has anyone covered a large surface with this stuff. I plan on re-doing the body work and re-painting my 59 ford in the near future but till then for a winter project i was thinking of flaking the roof. Ive seen some not to shabby rattle can paint jobs. Just wondering if anyone has done a roof yet with this stuff.
maybe they will get it moving ,since everyone is enthusiastic about it-myself as well am very interested
Just did the 61 Plymouth dash in my 49 Hudson in gold and it looks bad!! Definitely worth the price!!
We got ours from AB Supply in Fremont, CA. Took a week or so to WI (no big deal, they were very clear on that) because it has to ship ground. Happy with it, and we saved some $ by using the Duplicolor Lacquer clear, which the guys at AB said would work fine. Used it on the garage fridge, it's not pic worthy yet, needs lots more clear, which won't happen until spring.
Anybody thats used this Roth stuff have any problems with the tips clogging? I used the Dupli-Color Metal Specs silver and not only did the tips keep clogging in the middle of the job but the end result looked no different than metallic paint! Nothings more fustrating than spending hours prepping just to have to start all over again due to shitty paint that ruins your job in just seconds..
Never knew they made "Rattle Bomb" spray cans...that's interesting, I used to be in a club called the Rattle Bombs, for this same reason...
I ran into the same exact problem with the backup panel on my Olds. Used Metal Specks Blue also by Dupli-Color. Do you know of any spray bombs that put out a very thick metal flake?
Well im glad im not the only one who feels this way about the Dupli-Color stuff.. I was surprised because they usually make good products.. There was a rattle can that put out a surprisingly coarse flake that was made by Seymour paints, it was called Sunburst.. But you'r not going to find any since they discontinued making it at least 2 years ago. This Roth Bomb stuff is really our only hope right now for rattle can flake.
That stuff looks good! I used some rattle can flake in the 70's that was 3 part as I remember, base, flake, and clear. I remember doing the dash in a '53 F-100, came out killer. I can't remember the brand name but it was something I picked up at a local parts store. I really want to do the dash in my '50 Chevy pickup when the time comes, looks like Roth will save the day.
I got mine from Sacramento Vintage Ford. x2 on the advice to get extra flake cans. The base covers quite a bit of stuff. Also use tons of clear. I messed up ran out of clear had to switch to another brand and screwed up some stuff. Lesson learned! Here's the wheels and air cleaner I did on my Imperial
