I am using a keyed battery kill switch hidden, air the car all the way down and remove the steering wheel via a quick release pin! Hopefully this will do the trick for me.

yeah i know..im just poking fun at the OP..but one thing i want to correct you on...and thats Michigans castle doctrine..maybe we cant trap thiefs..but we can shoot em..we can defend property with force here, we have a no retreat legislation in our law..all they have to be is a threat, and on your legal property..as long as your not engaged in illegal things also..the point most miss is the correct wording and proof of threat..if the theif is armed..shoot him..and make it so yours is the only story
oh and who's going to talk about the booby trap?..a dead guy?...people make the mistake of getting the cops involved, and thats when it goes down hill in a hand basket..but i digress

force with force is what needs to happen.

Sorry to correct your correction, but even your "Michigan Castle Doctrine" is for preventing harm to persons, not property. It is a "no retreat" statute, meaning that if you are in your home, you don't have to flee from intruders but rather you can stand your ground. I think hunting down an intruder in your garage might have a different result.

Here's a quote: Essentially, deadly force is only authorized in self-defense when preventing: great bodily harm that could lead to death, death, or rape (known modernly in Michigan as sexual assault.) The individual using deadly force in legitimate self defense must have an actual belief that he is preventing one of those three things, and that belief has to be reasonable under all the circumstances. In other words, a jury would have to agree that, if they were in the same situation, they would share that same belief that great bodily harm, death, or sexual assault were about to occur.

Oh, and about the dead man, disposing of the corpse is a crime unto itself, not to mention a coverup of the previous booby trap crime.

Most theifs are armed...end of argument;) and if he wasnt..he will be when they get here

and to me thats a threat on my life, my families lives, one does not have the liberty at that point to second guess if he will use it or not, you have no time to wait and see..its lock load and pull time, im not a victim, so i dont think like one

  7. You can in MO. They changed the law awhile back to protecting your self family or property.

I don't think the law includs personal property but real property IE You home. But it was tried within a few days of being signed a fella here in town shot a man while trying to steal his pickup truck. The truck was parked in the driveway he was standing on the porch. No arrest made no charges filed. The DAs office sited the new law.

back to the original toppic before this gets locked..

Immobilization of your vehicles is key, especially if they are not daily driven,, in storrage for winter? take the wheels and tires off and put it up on jackstands..
ignition cut outs, alarms and GPs'..and good doors and no windows or bars on the windows..

    Dogs..Lights..and Guns

Mike51 merc..i understand you, im just keeping my reputation of being a crazy fucker, alive and well..it keeps em on their toes:D
its just like when i tell my daughters boy friends, that i dont mind going back to prison for defending her honor if i have too, or if they catch me:eek:

the biggest attitude that needs to change in this country is this Victim view they push on us about the theif..they aint the dam victim..and were paying way too much to house them

Fuel shutoff, keyed battery shutoff. S&W 360PD in the right front pocket of my jeans. 12ga at the door to the garage/shop. I'm a light sleeper, and a confrontational SOB to boot. Out at the hangar, we have special locks (guy in the hangar across the way invented them). Roving security also in addition to limited access through the few gates. Thieves are the scum of the earth (along with most other malefactors and ne'er-do-wells) and anything handy that will permanently abate their activities is OK with me.

I use a heavy chain going through the frame and around a pole. Like for a bike, but big enough for a hot rod.

  20. Protecting your stuff with high velocity guns is pretty irresponsible and damned dumb. I sure can tell who got their ideas about firearms from gangster movies and westerns. Be nice to your neighbors and protect your castle with a shotgun or light caliber pistol with unjacketed ammo. Some of you people are scary.

  21. I run a battery disconnect, a seperate coil switch and no ingintion key but a push botton starter. But if they want it ...thats what insurance is for.

  22. My OT Mustang uses a LoJack wired into the lights, if the car is jumped, or the LoJack removed , no head or tail lights. since most cars are stolen at night, it will attract cop attention. LoJack is worth every cent.

  23. This thread got me thinking.
Seeing that the only car of mine that was stolen from me was stolen by someone who knew me, maybe the answer would be to wire up the system so that the secondary voltage went from the coil to a pad on the seat. This would be activated when the ignition was on, and would give the person stealing the car the idea that it might not be a pleasant ride.
In the dorms at university, we wired up a phone magneto to a toilet seat with a wire under the seat and copper sulphate to transfer the juice to the offending person who always chose to stink up the large bathroom just when everyone wanted to wash up for dinner.
High voltage solved our problem. A person could post a sign with small print saying that this car bites to resolve the legal liability issue.

  24. Call me paranoid, but in light of the amount of cars that are getting lifted lately, maybe it's none of anyones buisness what kind of security measures we take to protect our cars. This is a highly visited board I for one only know a handfull of you guys and gals. Thats not to say that most of us are'nt respectable, it's just in this day and age you really should'nt trust too many people. I'm done, thanks for your time ! Mitch.

Short piece of logging chain welded to frame. Loose end Master Magnum locked to rear drive shaft through U-Joints. Car is moved.... good-bye drive shaft. When not running vehicle, chain is locked up and out of the way to the frame. Just don't forget to unlock it when you go for a soda!!!!

You can deter a casual thief, but a serious one will get your car no matter what.

I took the key out of the ignition and disconnected the battery and left it in my locked garage for a few months while I'm out of town.

A serious thief will have a tow truck and go jacks and only good luck and the lord above will stop him from getting it.

Then it's most likely parted out.
