The Winchester photos I posted were Armin Krueger photos I purchased from Greenfield Galleries. I think Armin was standing on the steps of the old bridge in turn #1.

Mariofankri, looks like the Reading Opener. The Gapco had something wrong in the suspension. Mario spun 2 or three time coming off the fourth turn. (I think it was a dicked up jacobs ladder)

This shot kinda typifies the 67 season when A.J. nipped Mario by a mere 80 points for the championship.

    Rootie,
I woke up this morning feeling sore and tired from tearing down the sprinter all day yesterday. When I saw this picture it really inspired me to get my butt out and get to work on this car. This is the best photo I have so far and it is going to be blown up and hanging on my wall for all to see. What a great photo Rootie this is really helping with the history of this car. I feel like I hit the lotto.:):):)

Glad to help, I scanned that from a tiny little pic in a old magazine. Thats about as big as I could make it and still keep it somewhat clear.

Rootie - This is Bob Easter, Luke's son. I was saying thanks to Jim from Jimmy's Old Time Racing Photos in my post - sorry for the confusion. No, Luke wasn't in the Atlanta race - to my knowledge. I remember him being nervous about an advertised Super Modified/Sprint Car race at Trenton (the one Steve Chrisiloff won) (sorry about the spelling). So, I don't think he would have went on the Super Speedway. The only Georgia races I remember were in Macon. One year at Macon, Todd Gibson in the Flintstone Flyer was too low for the timing lights. So, they taped a fuel stick to his roll bar to trip the light. He set fast time - by a long shot.

The purple and white car on the right is the speedway Motors 4X of Jan Opperman, the one on the left is Keith Barkers # 3 with Eddie Leavitt .

Yep, you're right. I remember they parked together and looked alike. Thanks for the correction. I have other pictures of both cars here somewhere. Eddie Leavitt was a real nice guy - to me anyway and Jan Opperman always seemed happy, intense, but happy. Were you in Tampa that year?

Don't have the lineup with #s so I'm not real sure who else is in the lineup, but the #11 is Red Amick and the #7 may be Dick Gains in one of Diz Wilsons cars called 'Bad News Spl.' a ex-Walther indy car but not sure.

DuQuoin..... And speaking of Atlanta, USAC came in the next year,65, and Mario, in the DVL #12 roadster, finished 2nd only to J.R.s 'Funny' car.

Did not know what car Greg was in at Atlanta. Knew he had fast time by a lot. There was a BIG difference from fast time to slow time. I think dick was in a roadster driving for Dizz. Forgot who won the race. I will try to call Charlie Masters as he was in the race and find out more info.
