A few years ago in a moment of weakness I sold my wheel standing 28 Model A clown car. I always regretted it. Most fun car I ever owned and I have had lots of them. I had used it in parades and drove it around my neighborhood and it was always a blast. Was visiting the owner of it recently near Wichita and told him I would like to buy it back someday and he let me have it for the same price he paid me.[IMG]

It does look fun. I am glad you got it back, a true wheelstander.

Built in 1957 by 2 teenagers from Concordia, KS (who have since become friends of mine) after they saw one in a rodeo that came to their town in 1956. The rodeo clown drove it in his act which impressed them so much they built their own version of it. They played with it for a summer or so and then sold it to the American Legion who used it for years in parades across northern Kansas. [IMG]

Make 7 more, have the others join you at the next parade. Could you un-clown it by lopping off the back seat? Gary

Still runs and drives great after all these years with it's stock Model A engine. Most of the art work (poorly done by me) is gone but I plan to give it a cosmetic makeover. [IMG]

Since I am just a big kid who never grew up and like to play around in parades and terrorize my small town with hot rod motorized bicycles, this is a perfect fit for me and my personality.

  13. I'm happy for you but all these pics with coveralls aren't helping my winter blues!

  14. Congrats on the cars return Paul!!

Cool, you sure look happy to have it back.

  16. If she had wings she could fly! Paul, I am so jealous of your yellow car!!! I knew somehow, someway you would get a yellow car again, one that could pull the front end off the ground. There is no way I can pull the front end off the ground with my yellow car and you know it. Once again its PF 1... Gasserlouie0. When I grow up i want to be just like you! Or Hugh Hefner. Oh hell, I really would rather be Hugh Hefner. There I said it.

I plan to keep it forever and share the fun with any visitors here on the "Impoverished Plains". Also look for it at events such as the Hamb Drags, Salina KKOA show and others. Free rides to all !!

  19. I love it... Hahaha!

Now if I could only buy back the "Rocket Sled" and have you deliver it to me in WI that would make my day!!! C U Later Fancy Pants!

  20. I would love a ride in it except, the front end would come up and so would the rear tires and we would just sit and spin. :(

Does it have manually operated individual rear brakes??? A couple set ups I have seen had that feature so you could steer with the front wheels in the air.

Yes, that hand lever on driver side rear fender allows you to spin around in a circle while front end is up in the air. Takes some practice to do but lots of fun!

Saw probably the same clown at a Pasadena, TX rodeo around 1956. The car, and the clown impressed me so much I still remember his name- "Bo" Bland, Rodeo Clown". I wonder if he's still around.
Nice car, Paul, hope to see it in the future. I guess you could post it in the "Altered Wheelbase" thread to add to the controversy.

I saw a pic of a Model T car like that on the MTFCA forum a few years ago. At least that's where I think I saw it. Very cool, by the way!!

  29. Is it street legal? That looks like a blast!
