1929 chevy coca cola truck

    I have an orignial 29 chevy coca cola 1 ton truck . was stored 35 years, the engin is not stuck ,but it only has 25 to 35 lbs compression.what is the normal compression, it is a 6 cylinder.does any one have pictures of the eng you could post. need help with this one . i work on model A most of the time.
     
  2. i'm not familiar with that motor , but that sounds VERY low. i think that is a OHV engine...maybe the valves are sticking?

    It is an over head valve ,1929 was the first year for this eng . it has an up draft carb, we have good fire to the plugs . any tricks to getting more compression. without tearing down eng.

    Please do an intro.

    1929 was the first "stovebolt". The OHV inline 6. Google Chevrolet 6, they have a good writeup on the early 6 cyl.

    Put some oil in the clinders and spin it over a few times. The compression should come up at least some.

    I have a complete engine / trans that I pulled out of my 29 sedan to make room for an upgrade.

    Ran good but leaks a fair amount of oil. I pulled it last winter.

    No idea what the compression is.

    How fast is it cranking? Makes a huge difference.
