I have an orignial 29 chevy coca cola 1 ton truck . was stored 35 years, the engin is not stuck ,but it only has 25 to 35 lbs compression.what is the normal compression, it is a 6 cylinder.does any one have pictures of the eng you could post. need help with this one . i work on model A most of the time.
i'm not familiar with that motor , but that sounds VERY low. i think that is a OHV engine...maybe the valves are sticking?
It is an over head valve ,1929 was the first year for this eng . it has an up draft carb, we have good fire to the plugs . any tricks to getting more compression. without tearing down eng.
Please do an intro. 1929 was the first "stovebolt". The OHV inline 6. Google Chevrolet 6, they have a good writeup on the early 6 cyl. Put some oil in the clinders and spin it over a few times. The compression should come up at least some. OldBuzzards type slow....
I have a complete engine / trans that I pulled out of my 29 sedan to make room for an upgrade. Ran good but leaks a fair amount of oil. I pulled it last winter. No idea what the compression is. Send me a pm if you cant get your running and have any interest - located on Wisconsin 53074.
