A: A 1962 Comet 4 door! My sis-in-law's grandmother's car. She called me up and asked if I was interested. "How much?" "Dad says a 6 pack and you can come get it." After talking to him and finding out a little about the funky 'lil Mercury I enlisted my brother and we went up to KC to get it. Nice car. Really solid w/77K on the clock. A couple small rust spots in the usual places, a knick here and there. I6 & a 2spd auto. Interior, aside from the door panels and a tear in the seat, is super nice. Dash and steering wheel look new. Thirty minutes at home in the garage and she was running. Just gonna spiff it up a bit...real low dollar. The one thing I'd really like to do is get those puny 4 lug/13" wheels off of it. Looking for 4 lug options in a larger diameter, 15" would be nice but probably not available. Don't wanna go to a diff swap, etc. Probably change the stance too. I think it'll be fun to have around.

I quit drinking years ago but if I were to drink the Bud I would have a terrible headache and the squirts. I like the Falcons,Comets and such,64 Falcon Sprint especially.

Wow, didn't even need a 6-pack of something good! :D

    Nice score!

  6. Check out the 4-luggers from an 80's fox body Mustang or an 80's T-Bird
I think they were running 14's or 15's on 4-lugs

Wrong bolt pattern, those are 4 on 4.25, the Falcon/Comet pattern is 4 on 4.5. I'm running Maverick 14-inch wheels on my car, they take the larger hubcap like used on a full-size Ford. To run original Falcon center caps, one needs '64-'65 Falcon or Mustang 4-lug wheels.

Why in my day for that price you could get a fifth of Tennessee whiskey, a cigar and a hooker and have a dime's change to call for a cab to the VD clinic.

Nice find. What's the bolt pattern on those things? 4 on what?

I'd put some snow tires on all four corners and go terrorize the streets of Wichita! It'd make a cool little driver just the way it is.

Hah! Good one. Budweiser's too weak for me. I like beer that doesn't taste like diluted pee.

Alright, I guess I walked into that one. Seriously, though, Budweiser is terrible.

I don't know, how much does a 6 pack costs?

  26. Great score man, that can give you some low cost pleasure cruising with a bevy of thumbs ups and "nice car" comments. Great white exterior/red interior combo, good luck with some larger wheels, even 14" would improve the look, lots of nice 14" full Ford hubcaps that would look rightous on the Comet, Congrats ~sololobo~

  28. That's pretty cool. Congrats.

In 1979 I traded a guy in St. Louis two cases of Coors for a fully polished 727 Torqueflight (smallblock Mopar). I think it was the best deal I ever made!
