***This was a great TV show in maybe the late 1950's with Richard Crenna (Rambo Officer In Charge) as Luke and Walter Brennan as grandpa. I forget the actresses' name but think her stage name was Kate.
Black and white, kinda simple but so was life. HAMBers of the day would have watched this.

I believe it was Kathleen Nolan that played Kate.

  12. Yup, the Real McCoys, Kate was Luke's wife, he called her "Sugar Babe". If I recollect, they moved from Virginia to California, kinda like an earlier version of the Beverly Hillbillies.

Grahame, this is one fantastic period piece of motivational WWI poster art!
One of the KEEN things about the HAMB is that folks from Britain, Aus-
tralia, New Zealand, Tasmania, Canada, the United States, etc., can com-
municate readily on subjects of history, automotive technology, and just
nostalgic takes on life in general!

The poster is keen, because when the recruits got through training and went
to the front (especially in 1914), they found that cavalry, sabers AND frontal
attacks were, sadly, tragically OBSOLETE in this new, very mechanized war.
"Glorious combat" was replaced by barbed wire, No-Man's-Land, machine gun
nests, sniping sharpshooters, unheard-of heavy artillery bombardments, poison
gas attacks and the awful battle fatigue and physical assault of long deployment
in muddy trenches. If nothing else, battle tactics changed by WWII, so that the
misery endured by WWI warriors would not be repeated. It may not have been
"The War to End All Wars," but it turned out to be "The War That Ended Stupid,
Antiquated Tactics That Just Wasted Human Life and Drove Men Insane."
BTW, I'm no pacifist NOR politician, but WWI turned out to be a nightmare
that neither side could back out of gracefully or honorably.

Except for Gillipolli (sp) which was repeated word for word, step for step in WW2, because "no one would expect that"...dumb British

IIRC they ran TH400's with an adapter plate to mate them to the Rambler engine. AMC later used TH400's in their larger Jeeps like the Cherokee. In one of the other pics you can see the front mounted distributor.

  25. One pic shows a shifter and said they were running a Schiefer clutch. Somebody might have been screwing around. I do know the Borg Warner automatics that came in those cars were really weak.

How sad that the Packards and Studebakers ended up sharing bodies as they tried to survive. Both were great cars in their market niches before tough competition of the 50's hit.
