Agreed, their lines and front end just don't look right.

Remember that the '54 and '55 Conestoga wagons were based on the sedans of those years, not the coupes. Thought they look similar there is very little that is interchangable as far as the bodies go.

I had a 59 Lark 2 door wagon I wish I never got rid of. Really fun car with a small block in it. I dig the one with the Halibrands. I'll be keeping my eye on Craigslist a little more often after seeing that one.

The Sedan Delivery version of this car is realy rare. There is a black sedan delivery that shows up at Back to the 50's each year, done up at a street rod though.

I think if you lowered the bottom of the side gl*** to follow the line of the rear quarter panel top on this or made it a sedan delivery it would flow real nice with this top chop.

I think I had a chance to buy that car before it was rodded. If it wasn't that car it was identical. I liked it but p***ed. Can't own them all.

    Correct statement.
The Conestoga was made for two years, 54 and 55 only.
Stude made the 2dr wagons in 59, 60 and 61 (some also say 62 ?) but were just 2dr. wagons.

That's my light blue wagon on page #2 of this thread. The picture was taken at a Stude show in Orange County, CA.

Thats a nice car. Is the Conestoga different than a 2 door wagon?

FWIW, a "Conestoga" is a type of "covered wagon". The Studebaker Brothers corporation was founded in 1852, as makers of covered wagons!

That's one sweet wagon! I've learned to love Studebakers, after owning my '62 Lark. (327/th350) My dream Stude' is a '50 bulletnose convertible.
You can't beat that "Hawk" front sheetmetal for aerodynamics!

No need to post the link and get slapped for it. The guys like thebigdaddyo who really want to hunt it down can easily enough.

Hell of an interesting car an a good start on a road burner that will hall the whole crew.

I remember seeing one of these in a junkyard in Chesapeake, VA back in the eighty's. Body was pretty decent, motor was gone & a tree was growing up through the engine compartment. I think it had been there awhile. I've never seen another.
