A friend has had the car a couple years but hasn't done anything with it. I have had it on my mind and today I finally got with him on it and we cut a deal. It's a short trunk 49 coupe that has already been chopped and its a very clean job. Gotta put lower quarters in it bit otherwise its real clean. I want to build it very traditional, but I'm trying to think of something to do with the front. Love the stock from, but gotta do something custom. Thought desoto, but nah. Thought merc style opening with wills aero grill floating, but nah. Thinking 55 Caddy dagmeyers now, but never seen em on a shoebox. Just real undecided. Any ideas? Anyone seen the caddy bumpers on shoebox?
There is a picture of a shoebox with what I believe are Caddy bumpers on one of the 50s custom threads here, I'll try to find it and post the link. Congrats on the Shoe!
There are a lot of photos on the SHOEBOXFORD site in the members autos you can look through. Also some photos that may be of no interest. You have to go page by page. Maybe it is a chopped 49 tudor
I will have pics in a few days. He's had it stored in the back of an old box truck and we have to back the rollback up to the truck and get it out. Event done so yet. Unfortunately it is a coupe and not a sedan, I like the longer back windows of the sedan better, but it is a very clean job and solid car. I am on the look for the lower quarters from the wheel well forward for a 49-51 coupe if anyone has anything.
Damn, trays different. I like it. What is that, 55 or 56 olds bumper maybe? Kinda gives me some ideas for sure. I can't wait to get started on this one. Want it drivin when the whether breaks so work will be steady and quick for the next couple months on this one. It's a good feelin. I haven't been in the garage for a bit.
