  1. I am slowing pecking away at my 29 roadster, and today I put a grill on the thing simply so that I could set a hood on it and get it out of my way (I have been tripping over it for weeks). I stood back and REALLY liked what I saw! I have a very nice original deuce shell for this thing...but now I'm torn. It's gonna sit high...think mid-late 40's. So anyways, what do YOU like?

Here it is with the deuce shell:

  4. Chris, are you going to run a hood? That 32 looks so right on that car.

  5. I say go with the 29.

  6. Yeah, it'll have a hood.

32' looks too tall. Plus, everyone has a 32 shell on their car

I like the '29, seems to fit more with your mid 40's desired look, just bare bones.

  12. It is actually too tall. It needs lowered about 1 1/2". I was gonna do that after the V8 was installed...and I'm right at that point- either have the deuce radiator shortened or have a 28/29 radiator "V8'ED"

  13. I predict the new fad to be.......put a model A shell on it, everyone is doing a 32.

Pretty sure I hear that every time this is discussed.

    Ah, I see it now.
The '29 makes the front look kind of pointy to me. Might be because the hood not really installed and angling down a bit.
I do like that with both you get a good shot of the '32 axle.

    I'm still for the '32.

FULL HOOD and the 28-29 shell. Put the '32 on a 30-31 with a FULL HOOD and you have a period perfect late 1930's Dry Lakes car.

Chris run the Model A grill and sell me the 32 gril. They both look nice.......but seriously if you need to get rid of the 32 shell i know where it would have a nice home.

    Chris 29 with full hood , i'm running a 32 with a hood top, totally gives the a car a different look,and I,m leaning towards a full 29 hood+grille

I think the '29 shell fits the look of your roadster best. Looks great either way though...

Find something random from the pre-40's and make it fit...

  24. In order for a 32 shell to look good on a 28/29, See Avitar, A you need to trim the bottom where it meets the frame. Since you have a real nice 32 shell i would not do this to that!! Buy a repop if you want to go with the 32.
I also like the 28/29 and stock hood. It's your call detective!

  25. I cant vote cause i like em both.
Maybe you could use both, just swap em around when you feel the need?

  26. Hey Kiwi. Sorry, but I like the 32, always have. But I do agree with a few of the others, don't chop yours, too nice of condition. My 2 cents either run the A or git ya a repop 32 to chop.;)

I think you need a 2nd roadster.... I know I have a hard time deciding....

** I think your A shell will sit a slight bit higher once bolted to the radiator, which will make it look better....

Wow, my vote for 32 brought the score to a dead even 27/27. This is a close one.

    .

  29. Boy, it must be tough to have to make such difficult decisions! Kinda like blonde or brunette - you can't go wrong with either one.

That said, I'd go with the '29.

  30. It's always been my thinking that the 32 shells only look good when you're dealing with a 28/29 roadster that's already straying away from stock. The roadster on 32 rails with a stuffed engine compartment with a longer than stock hood, or just a longer than stock engine compartment, seems to need the 32 shell to complete the look. The added bulkiness of a big V8 and the big 32 frame lends itself to the bulkier 32 grill shell.

However, in this case, running a stock roadster body on the model a frame, with the stock length hood, it can be nothing but the 28/29 grill shell. Looks so clean and so right....it's the right "weight" for that application.

The flat front kind of reminds me of a snubby little 9mm handgun.
