  1. I've got the same dilema with my 31. I have an original 31 shell and an aftermarket 32 that i'm trying to figure.
I'm leaning towards the 31 shell but looking at yours you can't go wrong either way. especially with the patina you got goin on.

  2. I like the duece grill shell. No reason not some sort of a its trad thing or any other reason than I like it with the Deuce gril shell.

Would be a crime to chop or paint that deuce grill. Chop a repop or run the 29

So, after reading all this stuff (and seeing the poll) what's your opinion now, Chris?

I just posted on my thread , little teaser-the coupe , pics of my coupe with the 31 shell and the 32 commercial shell I have . Wanted to run the 31 because you see so many A's with 32's . But the 32 just looks soooooo right . I will have both of mine painted as I can change them in just a couple of minutes. But the 32 will be on there the most I am sure.

  7. I know the deuce has been done to death, but it's looks so good with it on there.I'm having the same dilama on my A bone coupes,I wanted to run the stocker A grille insted of the 32 just to be different, but I love the look of the 32 better.Good thing I have two coupes I can do one of each.I vote for the 32 on yours it looks great, like all your builds!

On a first-series A Model, in my opinion, the bulky ‘32 grille needs the bulky ‘32 frame (or a set of fenders) along with it, and the spindly Model A frame should keep the Model A radiator shell.

Whatever you do, don’t put a Model A shell on a Deuce-framed car.

anytime I was given the choice, duece shell everytime, radiator doesn't make a good grill

  12. Man.....'32 grilles have been done to death!

Man......Model A roadsters have been done to death!

Man......FORDS have been done to death!!!

Man.....Slanted windshields have been done to death!

Man.....that patina stuff has been done to death!

Man......black wire 16s? Done to death!!

Man........low mount headlights have been done to death!

    Okay......not everybody does V8 caps with a banger......

Next you'll tell us you're gonna mount a single drum tail light in the rear...;)

Just drag that piece of redundancy over here when you come over for the Early Bird and I won't charge you too much to take the embarassment off your hands. Just the kind of guy I am........;):D

Build it how you want! Me, I am running a 28-29 shell on my 28 roadster.

  14. A shell, preferably unplated and painted body color, but chromed would still be my preference over a '32 shell and grill. A chopped deuce shell is an improvement over a full height shell. Deuce shell looks too long/tall, especially on an A framed highboy. ...not so bad when using a deuce chassis.

I always like a 32 grille on a 30-31 ,just think it goes better with the bigger cowl and hood. But your 28-29 looks really good with the 32 or the A grille. So I guess I'm not a lot of help. Love the car though and congrats on the calendar.

But 17" wire wheels are a break right? Haha!! I made the mistake of calling those wheel 16"-ers and he told me to go fuck myself they're 17's. He said 16" wires are for fags. I told him they happen to be my favorite wheel.:D:D

I don't care how many times things have been done, if it works it works right? I think you nailed it with your statement.

I'm going to go through the Birth Of Hot Rodding and see how I feel about the two choices.

I'll be glad when the trend of ratty, barn-find, patina'd cars is over.......:D

But that's Chris' MO. But the word on the mean streets of Spokane is that Chris' next project involves chrome....not a lot but some so who knows. I for one love all type of hot rods from the rough to the polished....and that's polished as in shiny and not POLISH-ed as in the ass backwards car I'm building as a polish american.:D

  19. Hey..........I'm old..............can't see that well anymore...........

Besides...........he switched from mechanical brakes to hydraulics...........that's been done to death too...............Okay putting the whip away............

I like it both ways, but I noticed the dog was digging on the deuce grill shell. You can't go wrong following a dog's advice on things like this. Dog's have known what was and wasn't cool since long before man invented the wheel.

For looks, certainly the '32 in my view.
I realize that the A grille is more fashionable at the moment, as a reaction to all the '32 grills on A's, but you can see why people choose a '32.
But it is a really nice car either way, so you can't go wrong.

  22. I like em both, thats why I put up the poll :D I'm leaning twards the 28/29

  23. Fad or no fad...I just like original paint...it's hard to find an original 80 year old part with original paint and no damage. Any moron with a paint gun can blow a coat of whatever on a part...but original paint has to be earned! I've always like that, thats probably why everything I own looks like a shit heap (to people that just don't get it).

This roadster is a little different, the patina is a little far gone.... :D

There is no such thing as an original idea...they've been making Hot Rods for 60 plus years, so do what YOU want to do and trust YOUR gut....just like everybody else did. From what I've seen of your cars in the past you rarely,if ever, make a bad decision. Oh and I'm not even going to vote.

  29. Wow, neck and neck right now...to be honest I never thought the 29 grill had a chance :D

I voted 28/29 assuming you will be running the banger motor,

if you plan on putting an early V8 in there I'd vote for the '32 shell
