    Ladies and Gents,

Apologies for being so ghost for so long. . .life has gotten in the way of me living .

I'm back to full time teaching, and as such, my life no longer belongs to me; it belongs solely to my school. . .my students. . .the ever growing mounds of paperwork that have taken over my desk. . .

However, life has a funny way of taking turns when one least expects them.

    I've always said that I wanted an "Edsel Trio": a '58, a '59, and a '60, and that I wanted a 4dr., 2 dr, and a wagon.

Since everyone here in Austin knows about my obsession with Edsels, I was fortunate enough to have Drock6570 (LaRocca) shoot me a message that lotsaprojx (Patrick) had a 1960 Edsel for sale. . .and now I am one step closer to completing my set.

I jumped at the chance. . after all, 1960 Edsels don't come around everyday.

So this Monday, rented a truck and a trailer, drove it down to Houston (yup, I drove all the way there and back -- first time ever haulin' a car!) and brought her home to Austin, safe and sound!

She's a project, and won't be on the road for a while, and she's got some issues (that I was well aware of), but nothing that can't be fixed.

All of her chrome is there, and back and front gl*** are in GREAT shape, so the "important" hard to find "stuff" is all there. . .even if she has no engine, and floorboards are toast (as is 1 door, rockers, etc.).

Honestly, I owe a world of thanks to LaRocca, Patrick, StanDaManTX, and Kustom7777 -- without y'all this wouldn't have happened!

So, ladies and gents, without further ado, I introduce to you:

Maxine, the 1960 2 Dr. Sedan: 1 of only 777 ever made!

    Cool!

I like the "Pontiac" Edsels more than the first series, I'm somewhat jealous!

I like the new addition, hopefully the Cadillacs out back don't give it too much greif for being different!

Two doors are rare...I'm surprised there's even one left...

So, the '58...is that the wagon...??? There was one around Denver for a while...I'll see if I can get some info on it for you...you want a builder or a driver...???

'58 is gonna have to wait for a while. . .time, money, space are all in short supply right now. ;) I don't think we can fit another Edsel out at the shop right now. . .Not with Jobe bringing in caddies by the truckful :p:D.

    She's not a hard-top, she's a Ranger Sedan.

The hardtops -- they're rarer birds -- I believe there were only 223 of the hard tops made; only 59 of the 1960 9 p***enger wagons, and only 76 1960 convertibles. . .but she is a rare bird in her own right. . .

And Jobe -- different is good, right? ;)

The way the back gl*** dips down into the rear deck is pretty cool. Did the Fords of that year share that feature or was that only on the Edsel?

That right there is a car you don't see everyday (or any day for that matter!)

Looks cool, that back gl*** is something else. There were some weird people working over at Edsel...

I appreciate that. . .I've kind of given up hope on him. . .it has been almost a year, and unless he has a serious change of heart, I just doubt it is gonna happen. . .

Sad. That wagon is just gonna rust into the ground. . .:(

I know the Starliner had the same dip. . .the back gl*** shown here is, to the best of my limited knowledge the same as/similiar to the '60 Edsel hardtop. . .

Soooooooo glad to find someone that would appreciate and save the ole' girl. I found her laying flat on South Houston concrete and just had to buy her to save her even if I didn't do the restoring. Having had one of these in the 80s I remebr how cool they can look.
Good luck with the fixin' up. Great meeting you guys.

Gotta admit; can't remember the last time I helped load up a car with a tie on...............cool.

60 Edsel is definitely on my want list.

I swear, Ford made a 2 door hardtop with this same roofline, not a Starliner but not a post either, I've seen them. I would think if you had those doors and rear quarter windows/regulators, you could make a '60 Edsel 2 door hardtop out of that car, a 1 of 1 type thing. I'd have to find pictures to prove it but I'm almost sure I've seen it.

    Good score.

Are you thinking of this style hardtop...??? A four door tho. I don't recall Ford doing a 2 door hardtop with the two door roofline...post up them pix if you have them...

Turns out it's a '61 that I'm thinking of, so you'd have to add that body line to the tops of the '61 doors, or use '60 Starliner doors (would be tough to find). Might not be as interchangeable as I thought, but sure would look nice. I wonder if the roofs really are the same, or if they just look similar?

That's funny...and when you said that I immediately went looking for that roofline...cuz I was almost convinced I'd seen it, too...but couldn't find it...

That squarish '61 roofline on an Edsel would be very cool...you reading this MissPrint...???

    Yup. And ignoring it. :p

No, seriously though, an interesting idea. . .however, I think I'll deal with all the body rot first. :)
