Geez it nice to see some one else has to deal with this shit, we have only had a little over 60 in so far this year and winter is only 1/2 over
Anyone remember the blizzards of '77 and '78? I sure as hell do, lived through both in Hartford Ct. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fL7eXnIqUV4&NR=1 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yRvvnDy2GFo&feature=related
Sorry fellas, 90 here today but it is summer and we are on the slippery slope to winter. You guys & gals be careful out there. Especially any Hambers in Queensland. You are about to get clobbered by a catergory 5 tropical cyclone (that's a Katrina sized hurricane for our US friends)
what a bust......not as bad as they forecasted. GM's Delta plant even closed for a shift, rescheduled other shifts. jumping the gun a tad
Coming down hard right now. Weatherman says 8 to 10 plus possible freezing rain on top of the 8 inches we received yesterday. I really need to move to a warmer climate.
My wife, daughter, grandson and I spent all afternoon shoveling the driveway yesterday afternoon (about 14" of the white stuff). Got up this morning and the wind had blown it all back over the driveway so we get to do it all over again. Gotta love it. Supposed to be 10 below zero tonight. That's real temp not wind chill. My driver truck (2 wheel drive) sucks in this stuff. There has to be better days ahead. Everybody take care. Later, Dick
Google the blizzrd of 77 in Buffalo NY... We had drifts just like this in our house and me and my brother we able to walk on our garage roof.... what gets me is that in buffalo we have always has weather like this. If we are going to get 3 feet of snow then tell me about it otherwise it's just another day in paradise...
Every time I see one of these how's the weather threads, it reminds me of the Paladins cover of "Kiddio".
I stuck the plow truck this morning at 4:30. Shoveled for almost an hour. five foot drifts in the driveway.
We didn't get as much as originally predicted but the wind did howl a bunch last night. Have about 6" or so hard packed across the driveway and a light snow now. Level 1 emergency has just been lifted. Time to get back to normal around here. The older I get, the less I like this schtuff although I did get to run the snowblower. And I do remmeber the '78 blizzard - WAY worse than this is around here now!
...here's what it looked like in front of my house this AM, road blocked, 2 trucks in the ditch, quit snowin but wind is still blowin; some of the biggest drifts I've seen...one lane open now after a big tractor plowed thru...it'll take awhile to dig out from this one.
wow thata a huge drift! i was dropping some parts off at my buddys house in blissfeild and he had a 6ft drift across his drive, also see you at cobo flyinbrian, we have the clubs cars and trucks all at my buddys house all ready to roll to detroit, keeping the drive clean with a 67 c10 4x4 armed with a plow.
Man this weather has been a killer! We finally have some decent offshore wind and now no significant swell in the water. Dammit! And it's cold too, about 65!
sunny and mild here in the Bay Area. it rained last week though, and I hear it may rain again soon. the closest I have ever been to snow is driving by on the dry road on a sunny day and seeing little blobs of it here and there off to the side. I think it was driving over Mt. Shasta.
At work in Metro Detroit. Most people are not, we are the lucky few. We got about 7 depending on the burb.
Man this is more snow than I've ever seen. This is the street outside my apartment for college in Milwaukee.
Couldn't pull in my driveway last night because of the 3ft snow drift. Had to shovel my ass off to be able to get pull into the garage. It was 5 fucking degrees and -20 windchill. Man evolved from the tropics.....why the hell did he leave?
SWING AND A MISS!! No new snow in North central Wisconsin today!! But 15-18 inches still on the ground 11 degrees and windy just another wonderful day in the winter wonderland. Looks like the **Packers** took our weather with em to Dallas!!!Wow its strange having the storm south of us its usually the other way around, 100 miles can make a real difference!! 18 degrees and sunny not a cloud in the sky here today..
My furnace took a puke last night around 8pm. It was just the igniter so I had to drive 20 mi in the blowing snow. Wasn't real bad, I've been in worse. The only problem is that I live in a very rural area and the blowing and drifting snow was the biggest problem. FortunatelyI had a space heater and an electric blanket. Still got pretty cool in the house. Glad I could fix it myself as I probably would have had to wait for some time to get any service. Getting nice and toasty now.
We are on lake Michigan in Union Pier, MI. It started yesterday about noon and hasn't stopped. We're at about 18" and it's snowing and blowing like hell right now. Tried to make a couple of snow angel but covered up as soon as I laid down. This is the worst one I've seen for a very long time. So I'm just sitting here drinking coffee and smokin my garr by the fire. Ain't that bad.
