  1. Really cool Lee. Definitely keep the updates coming it's super cool to see what you guys are up to. I will have to drop by and say hi sometime.

  2. food, friends, and working on hot rods... doesn't get any better.

  3. That poor old shoebox ain't gonna know what hit it!
Well actually probably not too much will happen until my roadster is done. But after that, it's on!

I was just checking out your guys shop pics last night. Wicked stuff! I love the shop, and the cars. It's cool to see two clubs from two totally different areas, doing the same thing. Your post about living in area that sucks, and then making it not suck was bang on. I lived in the hot rod mecca of the universe, so-cal, for a year and half. Hot rod stuff going on every weekend, everywhere!
When I moved back to Edmonton, there was hardly anything hot rod related going on, and it sucked, big time. I came back in 2007, met some like minded hot rod friends, started a club for traditional hot rods, opened up a shop specializing in traditional hot rods, and now it doesn't suck! Well the winters still suck, but nothing I can do about that.
I want to see more posts from your guys Wednesday nights!

That Edsel deserves a fresh coat of paint. Glad to here your gonna be the guy to do it!

  4. Well tonight was Big Dick Daves turn. While his 51 fleetline warmed up in the shop (after shoveling it out a huge snow drift) we cruised over to he o'l New West. Dave and Johnny had the meatloaf, while I had a mushroom cheese burger.

When we got back Dave started to jack the car up so him and I could bleed the brakes. Poor Dave should have never bent over to slide those jack stands under. I just couldn't help myself.

"Ahhh the fake penis touched my elbow!!!" cried Dave
    [IMG]

Anyways, enough cock talk, back to the brakes...

While we did that, Johnny pulled all the plugs, cleaned them and gapped them. After that he cleaned the grille up, and bolted it back in.

Little dent action that needed taken care of
    [IMG]

Not quite as good as new, but good enough for now.

    Some steel wool...

Dave is such a dick sometimes
    [IMG]

Once the brakes were done, I started cleaning daves overspray off the windshield. I know the windheild is getting replaced, but I couldnt stand the overspray on it. It just looked like crap.

While I was doing that, Dave started working on the exhaust system.

The exhaust never got finished before clean up time, but it's one step closer than before.
Once again it's time to put the chevy outside, back in the snowbank and wait until next time...

Here is another video for you guys.

Anyways, next week it's roadster time!

  5. Thanks for the update Lee!! Weathers been great huh? It's always a blast to have to dig your shit out from under 2 feet of snow.

  6. I liked it on the Canadian Rodder forum and I like it here. Keep on Keepin' On.

  7. Haha we actually made Dave dig his own car out from the snow while johnny and I stayed inside and watched. Luckily he puts a car cover on it, so the car itself is not packed full of snow.

  8. LOL well you are right it is definitley way more fun watching someone else dig their shit out than doing it yourself.:D

  9. Roadster night!! Special at the new west was lasagna!
Tonight we crossed two items off the roadster checklist. The headers are finished, 100% done. And my gauges are now in the dash!
Johnny and I did the gauges. What a time consuming job!
We started off with 6 brand new Stewart Warner wing gauges, and a new brookville deuce dash.

Starting the layout (the most time consuming part).

And while we were doing that, Dave worked on finishing up the headers. They were pretty much done, but still needed a hanger and support rod made to hold them in place.

Dave making the hangers out of 1/2" round bar.

    Just like a blacksmith...

    The "Hand Model"

    And Headers DONE!

Back to the gauges now. The layout all drawn out...

    Holes drilled
    [IMG]

And gauges in! But they do still need to be hooked up.

And how it sits as of tonight. One day soon this car will be tearing up the streets. Not too much left on it now.

  10. Looks like you guys are having FUN!

Dash looks great Lee. I still love the flex pipe. I think it fits the roadster perfectly and really sets it apart from every other A with lake headers on it.

very cool, we do something similar every sunday, in our opinion it's what a car club should be about, hanging out together working on cars...

very cool stuff you guys are doing there! Those dinner specials make my mouth water! Keep up the good stuff and the good posts!

Oh and about that nibbler "those are some bad roaches!!!!!!" lol

  16. Thanks, I'm kind of sick of seeing lakes headers on every model A, so I went through the don montgomery books and between them, and a sketch from Spoggie I came up with these.

Hell yea thats what it should be about, if a car club isnt working on cars, is it really a "car" club?

They are pretty tasty. Speaking of that, I'm going to get lunch!

  17. Allright, two part episode tonight.
First things first, all 3 of us hopped in Johnny's "Heavy Chevy" and cruised down to the newwest for some supper. All the dinner specials sucked, so we got pancakes bacon and eggs. Except Dave, who claimed he was so hungry he could eat a skunks asshole without salt! Yes thats right, without salt! So he ordered two pancakes, along with bacon and eggs.

    mmm...bacon...

I guess Dave wasn't as hungry as he thought. After getting halfway through his pancakes, he threw the towel in. Fat Fred on the other hand was stoked to get left over pancakes for supper!

Next stop, good o'l Princess Auto to pick up some supplies.

When we got back to the shop, Johnny started setting up the rails on the table, while Dave and I went out back begind the shop in search for treasure. Treasure being a 40 ford rear crossmember. I have a pile of them out back, but with the 30" of snow we've got in the last few weeks, it made it quite difficult to find the pile.

I knew they were in one of three places, just didn't know which one.
Here was attempt one. Found some T roadster parts, but no crossmember.

Attempt two, we found a 9" rearend, front axle, some tires, but no crossmember.

And attempt three. Way in the back, under some trees.

    Just like digging for oil!

With the crossmember back inside, Dave started marking it out to flatten it out. Were using this rear crossmember with a 40 rear spring mounted to a 52 Olds rearend.

  18. Part Two!
While Dave was cutting the crossmember up, I started finishing up the welding on the frame rails. Johnny and I finished the other rail off last Sunday.

Before we knew it Dave had the crossmember cut up and ready to squish it
    [IMG]

All welded up, and BAM! Flattened crossmember.

    The Sheep returns!

I have no idea whats going on here?

And some cleaning up with 120 grit, and we have two finished rails now!

  19. Rails look great Lee! Nothing like a treasure hunt in ice encrusted snow to get you ready to do some work. I know I will probably regret asking this but what the hell is that thing in the last picture.

  20. Haha thats still kicking around from our Christmas party. It's a really old Santa head that lights up. Really creepy when it's plugged in

  22. You guys are fuckin hard core!!

Love what you're up to. You guys make our Wednesdays look childish.

Keep posting the pics. I really enjoy them.

  23. Thanks Dude, you guys need to start posting pics too! Maybe discovery channel will see it and we can have "Car Club Build Offs" and become rich and famous and have sex scandals with famous celebrity's! Or hell, worst case scenario, we can see what you guys do also haha:D. Actually a few Wednesdays ago, we were working away and I asked the guys "What do you think the Iron Lords are doing right now?"

  24. And another Wednesday has come and gone, tonight it was Dave's night, and as usual we hit up the O'l Newwest. I had the chicken cassadia, and Dave had the Veal Cuttlet. Johnny couldnt make it for dinner, as he was in Calgary today with work, and didn't make it here until around 8:45. However Daves parents did join us for supper.

Back at the shop Dave and I got started on the headlights. We took the buckets out cleaned them up, rewired the sockets and played around with some different headlight ideas.

    52-54 Ford...

    56 Buick
    [IMG]

    54 Buick
    [IMG]

Dave liked the 56 Buick ones the best. My friend Paul gave them to me earlier this summer, so I passed them on to Dave.

Johnny did meet up later, but was to exhausted to help out, so he just kept us company, which is cool.
Here he is recieving a picture message of someones balls.
Kids and their camera phones these days. When I was a kid, and I wanted to send someone a picture of my scrotum, I had to use a real camera, wait for the rest of the roll of film to get used up, then take them all in to get developed. Afterwords I would take said picture, put in an envelope and mail it to them. All in all it took a few weeks for the whole ordeal to take place, therefor it was just not done. Too much hassle.

While Dave was putting his headlights back together I started polishing up all the chrome and stainless. It came out real nice!

Even Fat Fred was helping tonight!

Once the headlights were back in we started trying to get the broken bolts out of the inside of then fender braces.
Dave forgot about them until after the fenders were back on and we went to bolt the bottoms up haha.
After about 2 hours of messing with them we gave up.
We tried soaking them in Gibbs, we welded nuts to the broken stud sticking out, vice grips, wrenches, sockets, you name it we tried it!
So as a temporary fix to stop the fenders from flapping and the door from rubbing, we just simply put two tacks on each fender to hold it in place. When the car comes back apart for paint, the broken bolts can be dealt with properly!

Also, speaking of Daves car, on Saturday Dave finished up the exhaust underneath. It is SNAPPY! I love it!

Anyways, Johnny did have something to contribute tonight. He found this awesome video on youtube that I am going to share with you.

This one goes out to the Iron Lords! Rock On!

  26. That's some funny shit!!

Weather last night started out nice and we had a bunch of guys show up with their cars. Brake lines were being run on a '50 Ford shoebox, temp guage got replaced in my '63 International truck, did some tuning on an Edsel, disassembled a Caddy LeSalle trans, stripped the paint off of a '50 Fleetline and a whole bunch of shit talking.

Pretty glamorous, huh? When does Jessica Alba come into the picture???

Keep the pics rolling! You're inspiration for everyone.

Great shop and cars! You guy's are having too much fun. Now I'm stoked to tear my wish bone out and modify it so it won't hit the steering box anymore. I'm thinking I'll narrow it at the rear, both sides. Seems to be enough room around the bellhousing. Best solution I can come up with. I don't want to notch it. Can't move the box. I need about 1/2". Now I got the ball hanging down in two caps but it still hits on a good bump. Time to fix it. But now I'm hungry!

  29. Can't wait to meet all you crazy bastards. Soon you guys will have a '56 Ford to dick with! Also get a XL t-shirt ready I'll take one when I pick up the Edsel!
