    The Detroit Autorama is Feb 25, 26, & 27, 2011

The Single Finger guys would like to host the Meet & Greet for just one day this year so we decided on Saturday afternoon.

How does 3 pm on Saturday at the Single Finger Speed Shop display on the lower level. This gives everyone a chance to get back from lunch plus it's too early for folks to be leaving Cobo for dinner. If you remember from last years photos the Single Finger display was the one whos background looked like an old filling station.

Larry, AKA: Safari-wagon and the Single Finger Speed Shop guys have offered up their display for us HAMB folks to hang out in, meet, bench race, put your feet up or whatever. This will be downstairs in the lower level. They've got quite a few spaces and will have lots of HAMB member's cars in the display including Big Olds. I will hang a HAMB Meet & Greet banner there as well as the Single Finger banner. Larry and the guys will have beverages and snacks but if you'd like to bring something to share as well, please feel free.

Other things to see and do in the area.......

There is a "People Mover" station in Cobo, two floors up from the main level, which goes around the city in a 2 1/2 mile loop. It's 50cents and worth it to ride just to see the view of the river, bridge, etc. One of the People Mover stops is Greektown which has some GREAT restaurants, bars and casinos. The top of the GM RenCen has a great restaurant as well PLUS there is always a nice collection of GM cars in the lobby from the Heritage Center so stop there to check them out for free.

If you're into BBQ, Slow's BBQ on Michigan Ave right by the old Tiger Stadium (torn down now) and the old train station (still standing and a really cool piece of local history). Not only great BBQ but the BEST mac & cheese I've ever had bar none.

There is a good burger place right across the side street from Cobo Hall called Cobo Joes. If you're in the lobby exit the doors on the left, thats Conrgess. Left on Congress and Cobo Joes is on the right hand side one block down. The Post Bar is right next door.

If you go out those same doors and go straight up Washington for two blocks and turn right on Lafeyette and down down two more blocks, there are two great coney island places on the left. I prefer Lafeyette Coney Island but right next door is American Coney Island. Perfect for lunch.

And if you are in from out of town and have never been to The Henry Ford museum in Dearborn or the Chrysler Museum in Aurburn Hills, you really should try to make an effort to visit there.

Also, don't forget about the Pinstripers Jamboree. It's upstairs in Cobo, kinda in the center but all the way in the back. LOTS of HAMB folks always striping there. Stop by, check it out and buy some artwork during the charity auctions all three days.

If you want a place to sleep near CobobHall PM Bob K for a reservation at the Holiday Inn Express or see this thread for more info.

OK, so who's going to be at the Meet & Greet so Larry and the boys can kinda get an idea on how many for beverages/snacks, etc.?

Looking forward to seeing everyone there!

Will the Tiki Lounge be well stocked with Apple Pie?

Dave Havlr (HouseofFab) and I will be in from Virginia & wouldn't miss the meet & greet or Denise's get together. Now I've just gotta figure out how to cram all of Denise's great ideas in to the trip! Gonna need a jet pack or something.

    Hi Denise,

Sorry, but thew New York boys (well, actually, the New York Geezers) will not be able to attend the Meet and Greet. We have to get on the bus back to upstate NY at just about the 3:00 get together time. Rats!!!

It was great to see you at the GNRS and I do hope to bump into you while I'm stumbling around the show.
