2 inches in the front, and no clue in the back. Just brought it down until it looked right. Just wanted to improve the flow, not squish it. I'll post up more pics soon, but yea I made a new package tray (catwalk?) panel and arched the decklid so that there was no transition between the glass and flow of the chop.

  3. thats awesome. it looked like a subtle drop, like around 2 inches to me, perfect in my opinion. your metalwork is top notch, i cant wait to see more. im really interested in seeing what you did to the trunklid and package tray area. thanks.

  4. That's some fine metal work you're doing, the overall is coming together really nice. It seems that all the work is right in hand with the other, nothing is over done to the point of taking away from something else.

  5. WOW! You have some serious fabrication skills man! This car is turning out to be pretty incredible! I will subscribing to see how it all turns out! Excellent inspiration for my '54!

That's awesome work!! I was just talking with Roger before Christmas when they
dropped by the tattoo studio before hitting the road gigging.
I just got my '50 Dodge from Willie (another Rumbler) and we were talking cars.
Roger was telling me his plans for the Chevy.
Looks like it's all coming together!!

Heres a pic where you can see where the stock tray was, the new arch of the decklid, and half of the new package tray being mocked up.

That's a cool idea, I can't wait to see more shots of the way the back window flows into the catwalk & decklid.

Here"s a pic of the pie cuts in the deck lid. I could have made less but you live and you learn. It worked out well though. Used a friction jack to pull the deck lid in. Lost like a 16th on gap on each side, on the top, but I got a trick for making those gaps perfect.

Heres a pic of the new package tray panel tacked to the 49 glass. welded this into an assebly before tacking it to the car, that way I could metal finish that weld super easy.

Here"s a pic of most of the package tray all cut out. After everything was welded and fitted I cut out that center sheet metal section to weld the new one in.

No Nads, people always get that confused. Its a heatlamp for the unicorn milk. That's what makes everything nice.

It's looking really nice FU, and I love how there's many ways to skin the cat. HOTDAMN is doing the chop on his '54 Chevy right now and we also took 2" out of the A pillar but perhaps because of the rear window we ran into different issues and approached it different. I think 2" is the perfect amount, it looks like a factory concept.

    Here's the link to HOTDAMN's '54 Pictorial...

I need to figure this out. LOL. I believe it is a 49 coupe glass. We got it from craigslist. Lets see if I can get some clarification on this. Does the coupe glass have a higher arch in the middle, and the sedans are flatter? We still need to order the back glass and all the stainless for the window, so I guess it would be a good time to clarify this.

I have been sleeping on taking pics, I should upload some more tonight. Plus Roger just sealed a deal for some NOS in the box goodness yesterday, Can't wait to get the package and show you guys the little surprise! Thanks DDR!

If I remember correctly, the shape and flow of the different glass are pretty close to each other.. One might be a bit more curvy than the other, but It's been a while since I've seen them side by side, so I can't remember. The coupe window is just about (+/-)2 inches shorter than the sedan one.. If you need, I can measure mine so you can see what you have there.. it's from a 49 coupe.
