  1. Good to see you back Gavin. Stick around and read up on past threads. Tons of info here. And as I'm sure you know, for cripes sakes don't use the words rat rod around here.

Well Gavin, you scored a few points with me anyway. You had the balls to step up and explain yourself and you saved an old truck from the s****per.

After reading this thread you probaby have a better idea of what this site is about, traditional hot rods. Maybe this is a place for you and maybe it's not. Depends on what you really are trying to do. As you can tell, we can be a little rough at times but there's good folks here. I think most of us appreciate the workmanship that is put forth a**** the different types of car enthusiasts. For me, that does not extend to R%t R*ds which is usually some piece of **** cobbled together in some ridiculous fashion. This place is special and we keep it to traditional hot rods. We just don't want to compromise what we're about.

I understand that sometimes you need to work with what you have because there isn't much of a budget. I would love to have a deuce roadster but that's just not reality for me now either.

I think you'll be alright here if your goal is to build something decent. I'll bet you never imagined that one simple little post could cause such a **** storm, huh?

All this being said, there are lots of folks your age here and if your project fits in with what we're about, then "Welcome". There's a lot of knowledge and experience here and a lot of people willing to help.

As of now this truck is just a toy I am in the search of a 40s chevy ford merc or Plymouth 2 door coupe to paint satin black with beautiful white walls and red steelIes but people around my area think that their ****** makin sure not to start a rukkas with my language * anyway that their **** is worth a milliOn dollars therefore I must tinker on with what resources I do have :) because if their **** is worth so Much to them imagine a beautiful piece of worthy steel would cost me

Well, you may have the makin's of something good with your truck. Have a look around the site. You'd be surprised with what some people start with.

BTW, you don't need to worry too much about your language, just don't say the "R" word.

I can dig building on a $ budget. I cannot agree with building to a mental budget(not giving a ****).

Build something worth doing or dont even bother.

The kid's cooler than some of the posters here... stick around and ask lots of questions Gavin, the people here are snarky, asinine (raising my hand for that one), and possibly the biggest collection of car knowledge as relates to old cars on the 'net!

Just think, not everyone gets so much input on their introduction!:p

Welcome Gavin. You have certainly received a hero's welcome. As you can see the HAMB is not short of opinions or people willing to express them. You have joined a very knowledgable group of car lovers. I am amaized at the combined brain power that is represented here.

Well whadda ya know! LOL! The thread's still up, and Gavin's back.

Glad ya didn't walk, Gavin. You're right...it is a brotherhood, and even though this may not be "a cute and sweet" forum, most here are plenty reasonable enough to give a guy a chance, and help him learn. And IMO, that does not lead to the "pussification" of America. What it does do, is to help to p*** the torch to young guys like you, and ***ure that our hobby will prosper for a long time to come.

Welcome to the H.A.M.B., and good luck with everything. Glad you survived your "trial by fire"...lol.
