I was born in a little town called Nuneaton, near Coventry. I would see the Jaguars and Astons getting Test Driven on the M1 and around the plants and my life was never the same... So much history so much beauty, I really miss England sometimes. I truly feel that England with all of her Marques has ruled the world in so many categories... Racing: Bentley/Jaguar/Aston Sports: Bentley/Jaguar/Aston Luxury: Rolls Royce Off Road: Range Rover It is astounding the amount of talent that is from this little isle! Lets not forget the Legendary Hilman Hunter... OK just kidding on that one lol
I used to live in Bedworth...Born in Coventry.....now living between Rugby and Cov...You still see Jags and Astons being tested around here...not really the same snce the XK220 went down the pan, now they are all abit "footballers wives cars"!!!..Prodrive is not far either so you get to see the full race Subaru's hooning around on test!! and also the new Triumph motorbikes!!...actually there are lots of design/race/developement companies around here so you constantly get to see stuff way before general release......Good on you for taking advice off the HAMBers on your project...and it's gona be a damn nice rod when it's done...keep the duel trans though just for the kookyness of it!!LOL nowt wrong with a Hillman Hunter......not much right either!...then again could be a Allegro!!
Pennaxfu, Rejoice in the fact that your folks had some foresight and took their family away from the shit hole that is the UK. This place is screwed. My folks always used to harp on about England being the greatest country in the world and now, My mum thinks it's a shit hole too. These are sorry times buddy. anyhoo, subscribed to your thread as I'm embarking on a first build too, keep up the good work and the good spirit. Pete, UK.
Hey thanks for the words m8! We used to have a saying about those Beduth Boys!! I won't expound as it could cause an international controversy... lol Yeah, my Mum tells me about the cars her and dad owned. She used to live around Porto and my dad was a fuckin tool who didn't know oat bout shit... My Mum was the car buff!! They had a Morris Oxford (navy blue that Mum would polish for hours when my eldest sister was born, she would sit her on the hood and detail it for hours per her recollection, and then go cruising at night on the boardwalk) My sister couldn't say Morris Oxford, and instead would say "Morry Ubub." Then she had a tangerine Morris Marina. We then got a Chrysler Avenger (delivered from America) our first new car! it was parrot green!! That's when Dad left us when I was 6, cashed in the life insurance and fucked off, never to return! Left mum with 4 kids at the age of 35 Motherfucker I never ever saw him again or have forgiven him. I have a hole inside because of that... The cars and bikes help to fill the void but the emptiness remains. Mum then had to sell the new Avenger for pennies on the pound and we bought the ol' rusty Hunter green Hilman Hunter home. The thing had more bondo on it than paint, mum would bribe the mechanic every Christmas with a bottle of Ouzo to pass the MOT(he was a Greek guy) I remember this well as I was the delivery boy! I slipped in the ice and dropped and smashed the bottle one year and got a beating I never forgot. After the Hunter, we bought a Morris Ital, that seemed like a damn phantom back then for us! It had a radio! Anyways great memories!
