Hey Poverty flats, it was great meeting you! It was good to see Gasserlouie again, and it was a pleasure meeting his friends. Did you check out that motorized bicycle? What did you think of it? I like the photos you took. There was a lot to see, wasn't there? We had fun, and I sold most of my parts. But then, I price them to sell! I don't like packing home much of my stuff. See you at the KKOA show this summer! John

Good to meet you, goatboy! Did you buy anything at the swap meet? There were some empty spaces, werent there. I suppose the ice and snow in Texas, Okla., and Missouri kept some vendors from making it here. Still was a good time, though!

Thanks for the "tour" of the ICT swap meet. I used to live there, and never missed this meet. Thanks for the pics!

  5. You outdid yourself with all the great photos Paul. I've been working on a caption for the photo of the big bomb, but nothing PC has come to mind!

I looked for it but did not find it. Maybe it had sold? Come up to the Flats sometime and you can ride one of mine!

As usual nice swap meet pics and narrative. Got one coming up tomorrow, first one of the year for the Sacramento area, other than Turlock.

are you serious? I thought he was always complaining of being broke. How in the world can he afford to have a drinking problem? Isn't he rapidly approaching the ripe old age of forty? Time to grow up, isn't it?

Last year was my first year to go, but the schedule wouldn't allow it this year. Was it bigger than last year? I would also like some info on the Nebraska swap if anyone has any. Thanks, Doug Olathe,KS

Thanks for the photos, I really enjoyed them. Can't wait for the 2011 spring Kyana swap meet in Louisville, Ky. This year's dates are March 13-14th, at the Ky. State Fairgrounds, if any one is interested.

  17. Paul. How the New York Times ever missed out on you as their on the scene reporter is beyond me. You are world class at reporting on your lifes adventures. Thanks for hanging with us again. AND, once again I am more than happy to be your bodyguard. There were several times I had to refrain people from mobbing poor Povertyflats. He is like "Elvis" when he is on location at a car event!

I have observed the same phenomenon. At Back to the 50's, folks were just screaming..."Hey, it's the famous Poverty Flats"...I was just honored to be in his shadow...and humbled to be there to protect him from the groupies.

GL, I am concerned that I can't handle it alone at the LoneStar RoundUp. Please find a way to join us and help me.

Thanks for the pictures. I have been going to that meet for the better part of twenty years with my uncle. This year was the first year we were unable to make it. Good to see they still had a lot of good stuff. Making plans to get back there next year.

I'll take you up on that! See you this summer. John

  21. Bob, its an unrewarding job, but someone has to do it! I have tryed to recruit others to help us with this task but so far no takers. All the recruits I have talked to seem to have glazed over looks in there eyes, as if they were under a spell. I would guess we are the only ones that can see through his shield of Bulls*#t and recognize he is just one of us.

  22. ModelAJohn. Its was nice to see you also! As always too much to see and do and too many friends to chat with. Time flies when your having fun. Hopefully we can talk more in Salina in July. Maybe sometime I can come down and watch you and Sam and your buddies race your gassers, I WOULD LOVE THAT!!! Chevy55, Dwight my friend, was at the swap meet also with his Dad Jerry. These guys have more cars than Rambler ever produced!!! Great guys from Nebraska also. I wish we all lived closer so we could see each other more often. It was a really good day, seeing all of my friends and meeting more. The scores at the meet are simply bonuses. Thanks to all who made this a great start to the 2010 car season. PS: I would have liked to have talked to Butch from here on the HAMB but never found him...

A couple of races you might think about going to are the Nitro Nat'ls in Tulsa the end of Sept. or the CSGA Natl's the end of Oct. at Noble. ( Ok. City). Also, the nostalgia race at Ardmore, OK, Labor Day weekend. Make sure you go to the HAMB Drags. You can make some runs with that cool '55 there!

Did Gasserlouie find any pigs to snuggle up with, I was told he likes Bacon Strips. Take a picture of that next time he eats at Perkins, ask him about the ladies hair cut at the Perkins in DesMoines , Louie will have a laugh.
