\PART 2 OF THIS STORY FOR THOSE ALREADY SUSCRIBED STARTS ON PAGE 7, POST 132 !

Well, I've been going to Bonneville for about 15 years now on the crew of "THE FLYING PICKEL" which is a D class, Chrysler hemi powered lakester. I have enjoyed this more than anything I have ever done with old car's! Never was a racing fan until my first trip to the salt! Every year, I come home from the salt with visions of building my own car for next year. Lots of cars laying around the shop to use, but I never seem to get started on one. Well, finally a friend of mine told me about a year ago or so, he was going to retire his 32 roadster this next year. He also runs a flathead powered sprint car on the salt at the same time. He was getting tired of running two cars at the same time, it's a lot of work! I told him when the time came, please let me know, I would be interested in the roadster. He was selling it without the motor & transmission. He ran a Hal- Dual overhead banger motor. He would keep it in stock. So, I bit the bullit along with my friend Colin & we bought the roadster minus engine- trans. Perfect deal as i have a few motors in stock we want to run. At this time we are planning on running a GMC 6 on alcohol, possibly blown, we will see. Anyways, here are a couple of pics of the new baby ! It has run there for several years, has a full log book & inspected, so I am miles ahead from building a fresh car. I'am stoked!!! ENJOY

My first driving experince at Bonneville was in this O.T. Firebird about three years ago. Not a very exciting car, but man, what fun! I was hooked for sure after that!

  20. I've only made one pass at a blistering 89mph... and it was worth all the work sweat and tears!

I made three passes at B'ville in a flathead powered lakester, two at 121 mph and one at 116 mph. No where near the record, but man, what a thrill!

Yes, it went from an Ardun flathead to a dual overhead cam model B motor. So I didnt want to put some boring motor in it. I think the GMC will keep the spirit going!

I grew up drag racing and never paid much attention to Bonneville, but my oldest son and I went to Bonneville in 09 to run the Mustang. What a great time! Trying to finish the coupe so we can take it this year....I hope......i think they call it "salt fever".
    Love that roadster!

Yea, lots of antique aircraft here, not uncommon to get buzzed by a P51 Mustang on Saturday afternoon's !

Well, today we are going to test fit a mockup GMC engine & trans. I want to use the rear motor plate setup that was for the banger. I am using an extra motor & old T10 trans just to see how it all fits.

so we pulled the nose off, looks like plenty of room !
